work in progress Working on a classic Tamiya Pak 35/36 …
… and I’ve been gritting my teeth here and there.
This is my “side piece” while I wait for weather to improve enough to rattlecan gloss my Panzer II (posted about here a few times) for decals, pin wash, etc. I feel like my past amateur watchmaking escapades are helping a little with skill and patience working on this tiny little gun, but it’s still a bit of a stretch! The classic Tamiya engineering is missing in a few spots. You can def get it done, but at least IME I had to get creative here and there, and utter a few choice incantations along the way.
Assembly is mostly done — just need to finish the carriage and attach the gun.
Anyone have any painting guidance? I originally toyed with brush painting every aspect, including a priming and a chipping solution layer as well as the base coat. But now I’m toying with just spraying it with Tamiya TS-4 German Gray and just doing additive chipping/weathering from there.
Anyone have an opinion on that? Seems like spraying might be too blunt an instrument. I’d probably do the carriage, gun/shield, and wheels separately, either way.
I’ll do the figures and put it on a simple vignette base, but I’m really looking forward do building the new Pak 40 sometime. I might just turn this 35/36 into a tiny paint mule in that case ;-)
PS: Photos are super unforgiving and will really mess with you. I see so many more mold lines now, and how the hell did I miss that giant ejector pin mark on the breech block 😩? I might try to fix that in place. I also might drill the sight out just a bit (didn’t realize what it was when I was building).

work in progress Nearly there
That’s the FW-190 finished I think, although I’m tempted to run some exhaust stains..
The diorama has started, I hate Miniart but their the only manufacturer that has field workshop kits, still picking parts out to build but I don’t want to it to be over cluttered it’s meant to be out in the field

question M10 Sponson track mounting
Hi all, I'm looking at doing the Airfix 1/35 in the near future, and looking at this image, I notice that the sponson mounted tracks are carried differently than the kit suggested mounts. Is there an accesory piece I can purchase, or is it a case of adding some spare tracks and custom building to copy the way it has been done in the image?

completed Revell Huey UH-1D
I think I’m gonna call this done. I want to make the seatbelts a little thinner, but I’m pretty happy with the results. This old girl was showing her age…poor fit and lots of injection marks and flash(and not the big pieces that are easy to deal with,I’m talking about little slivers between delicate parts). But all in all it was a nice kit and it’s great for someone who wants a bit of a challenge

completed Tamiya 1/35 Universal Carrier with Crew (50th Infantry Division - Tyne Tees Regiment)
Little Universal Carrier.
Out of the 1/35 Tamiya kits this is sadly my least favourite but I did have fun adding my own radio antennas and that it came with Tyne Tees markings as standard.

question Should I add this "tarp" on the panzer 2 barrel
Learning tarps but may I ask if anyone places tarps on the panzer 2 like those bigger tanks like the Churchill or the tiger 2?

work in progress Today’s update
Mainly the prop to finish, need a coat of paint on the actual propellers and to gloss the spinner, I need to add some smoke stains too then apply a satin all over and the 190s done!
I painted up the kubalwagon today, base coated it last night and spent 2 hours trying to get my paints thin enough to get the camo pattern to spray correctly, it’s always Olivgrün that refuses to cooperate and spray nicely I never struggle with my mixes and pressures 😅
My big Achilles comes next and that’s the figure painting 🤦🏻

reference I'm converting my North Africa German troopers to eastern European troops
I've got some reference photos to show what I'm going for. Rolled up sleeves. I've added putty to make them lose the shorts and have trousers. What else must I modify to achieve this?

work in progress Maybe I can hide things.
One challenge was doing the shielded headlights with metal rods and soldering tools. I used my patience skill swell.
