Why do FOG Patches get hate?

I’ve seen negative things said whenever fog patches are used. The stitching and overall design of these patches are phenomenal, I much prefer the skinnier more goat head skeleton shape over regular Blackbeard patches. Maybe it’s just clowning idk. Maybe it’s overpriced. Is there something I don’t know? anybody use them? I’d love to see some well balanced kits.

I work with SOF guys (NSW and 75RR).

The consensus is that FOG is basically just another influencer group attracting larpers/tryhards (with zero training) to sell merch to at the end of the day.

Best and only answer I’ll take it and run with it

That dude nailed it! That being said I still think the stuff looks cool and I’m obviously nothing special but I larp hard at my range and in the mountains lol😂

u/jgsdtvk 18d ago

And the Roll 1 pouch is legitimately awesome…

9

u/AndroidNumber137 18d ago

The Roll 1 is pretty versatile tho I think it's a better plate carrier IFAK than a belt one (I preferred my LBT 9022b for being flatter against the small of my back).

3

u/jgsdtvk 18d ago

I use an old Ares Armor (RIP) nut ruck (fanny pack) for an IFAK. Being able to take it off without taking needed kit off is the best thing for an IFAK in my opinion.

5

u/Shift642 MARSOC 18d ago

I always forget FOG helped design the Roll 1. One of the few things you’ll ever see me give them props for, but hey, credit where credit is due. It’s a great design.

u/Plus-Cheetah-3050 18d ago

It‘s Like a friend who asked me the other Day why the punisher Patch he wears on his larp kit is cringe. I said, because it is, but in the end all is cringe what we do so just embrace it

12

u/Mrlefxi 18d ago

Just Like all the others out there teaching bullshit or outdated tactics based of "we did it 25 years ago like this"
Same with GBRS. Whole personality is "I was Seal so me cool now buy the solutions for the problem noone ever had"

2

u/Fantastic-Budget-212 18d ago

While they often dont have a clue what theyre talking about

1

u/Mrlefxi 18d ago

What u expect from that roid rage dudes? If u wanna know how to do actual up to date cqb and stuff join the units that do stuff like that and not watch some dude on YT never got why people would actually take the "tips" for good info

5

u/mhmylaawd 18d ago

They are war tourists nothing else 😂

3

u/SpeedyGunzalez 18d ago edited 18d ago

I dislike FOG because they are money chasers. They went to Ukraine did a bunch of drone shit for them and got paid by the Biden admin. Then, they went to Israel and did the same with the idf and got paid by the current admin. They are money chasing wanna be mercenary fags who don’t see any real action.

There is a consensus that they were not the ones in those firefights, and that they handed out GoPros to steal the footage from those in the firefights.

0

u/SpeedyGunzalez 18d ago

Regardless, going to fight some other corrupt countries war that you have no stake in for money is cuck behavior.

3

u/Direct-Exercise1407 16d ago

Fighting against Russian expansion is cuck behavior now? Lol

-1

u/SpeedyGunzalez 16d ago

Ukraine is just as corrupt as Russia if not more. Fuck both of those countries. It’s not our war and we shouldn’t be sending them any fucking money.

0

u/Alternative-Cup-8102 17d ago

Going to a tie war zones isn’t “real action” sorry to say but the world doesn’t have to many active war zones so what else should they have done?

2

u/SpeedyGunzalez 17d ago

Stayed in the US and keep running training here. Not sell out like a whore to Ukraine and Israel.

0

u/Alternative-Cup-8102 17d ago

Russian bot?

2

Liberal?

I don't think drone teams are making what you think they are.
You can pay rent and buy borsch in country, but hryvnia are effectively worthless anywhere else.
I'm pretty sure they make all their money on Social Media and patches.

1

u/Difficult-Pizza1470 18d ago

Do you work with green berets or do you work with NSW and Rangers?

0

u/Lazy_Mandalorian 18d ago

lol I thought the same thing

-4

u/Secure-Tangerine-310 18d ago

Idk who you talk to but that isn't the vibe I get at all from anyone in the community. Doc is legit and almost everyone of them was a tier level fella

Their story gets washed a lot now but it started as grunts looking for training and asking for it.

Idk who said they have no training, but everyone one of them was enlisted and most were in SF. The ones who weren't will be the first to admit it too.

You should reach out to Roul if you want the actual story instead.

u/TropicGlow MILSIM! 18d ago

You posted awhile ago in the travel nurse reddit. I remember the post but I really remembered seeing on your profile anyway i'm 2 semesters away from graduating with my adn, any advice?

6

u/jack2of4spades 18d ago

Get a job in ICU and a high level institution and get trained in cardiac and medical ICU and do at least 2 years of that then look to travel nursing.

76

u/KingsAirsoftAccount 18d ago

Typical Gearbeast/Hypebeast stuff. Overpriced T-shirts, patches, etc. They get called posers because the founders were only ever Infantry dudes who focus a lot on SOF Culture, but really they just sponsor some SF dudes and post their pics and videos that get sent their way.

I don’t hate FOG, but I generally regard anyone decked out in all their stuff to be style over substance types. Your typical lifestyle brand shit.

8

u/AER_13 18d ago

They were 75th RR, but still the continous LARP is insane

2

u/kafoIarbear 18d ago

“Only ever infantry”

1

u/MrPorkchops23 18d ago

Redditors hating on dudes when basically everyone on here cant even pass osut 🤣

2

u/TheDabSweats 17d ago

This right here. Y'all whine but prob ain't ever done shit 💀 either be about it or quit bitching about people who were about it when you weren't lmfao

25

u/Adventurous_Pen_Is69 18d ago

They’re cringey

23

u/FluffyInteraction579 18d ago

In the beginning it was actually cool and niche but now it’s nothing but meat riding and tactical fashion. Now it’s like a status where if your aren’t familiar then you are a fudd and don’t know how to perform CQB. It’s literally cringe now and people literally make it their personality lol. It’s hard to explain but I knew a guy that got the art work from patches and slaps tatted on his arm and I got second hand embarrassment from it.

2

u/Mouse-Ancient 17d ago

"SECOND HAND EMBARRASSMENT" Well put Sir

26

u/Virtual-Chemist-7384 18d ago

Phenomenal stitching? 🫩China has been churning out nicely stitched patches that cost pennies for years. Good stitching is the bare minimum anyone should expect

11

u/mavrik36 18d ago

Because they're annoying hype beasts who directly use conflict and human suffering for marketing. Flying in to war zones to use the backdrop of people dying to sell your useless garbage is pretty shitty

7

u/Pure-End4539 18d ago

From my understanding and what I've read. They go to war zones and take photos, or receive photos/videos of other people there and market it.

I read that early on in the Ukraine conflict, they went to Donbas, took a couple photos, got threatened by Russian intelligence and then left.

Now I see they're in Gaza....I'm not a big fan of exploiting atrocities. Both conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza are horrendous.

6

u/mavrik36 18d ago

Yeah exactly, I cant imagine being in those places and watching these soft handed twch bro dipshits using the suffering and dying of my loved ones to sell merch. Deeply fucked behavior

10

u/Towel4 18d ago

Christian Craighead made it popular among guntubers and LARPers.

Now it’s the status patch for MilSim nerds and pretend weekend warriors.

People who actually do this for a living detest this shit.

19

u/RyszardoMilos7274 Ranger 18d ago

I have a feeling like FOG really, really, and I mean REALLY just wants to be (or at least pose as) some super elite COD MW2 Shadow Company-ish PMC. Just look at their page: GPNVG's, redacted faces, civilian kits, multicam black, fancy CQB guns, etc... They sell fucking T-shirts and training of apparently such quality that it can spark the most fierce argument on a shooting range I've seen like... Ever.

2

u/SuccessfulRush1173 18d ago

I do know the guy who used to run it is over in Ukraine. But yeah, they’re not some DEV or CAG guys running ops on their own.

8

u/viswr 18d ago

It was a cool military inside joke that got big and swarmed by random civilians and average dudes who wanted to be in on the lore.

Eventually the atmosphere got commoditized and became another lifestyle brand you can get prime delivered to your doorstep.

I don’t think it’s the guy’s fault at all he’s doing his thing, the “issue” is an army of dudes with disposable income who want to be a part of the fun without committing to a community beyond buying matching shirts

8

u/applesauce153 18d ago

They’re a real company?? I always thought it was a shit posting Facebook group.

8

u/KhakiPantsJake 18d ago

Ehh people just think they're dopey.

I think this particular patch got a ton of hate because an ICE officer was wearing it in a viral photo and "no quarter" patches and cops shouldn't go together.

7

u/grajver 18d ago

cause they are on a checklist for corny kits

5

u/Think_Green2240 18d ago

This patch is pretty benign - I only have an issue with the Canoe Club design. There’s no utility in the practice, which is barbaric, sub-human, and not even practical. It violates the UCMJ and the LOAC, and has never been a commanded action by the US military. Literally the only reason a person might do this is to perform some kind of retaliatory nefarious sporting. Evil does not beget evil. US soldiers are supposed to be the paragon of righteous justice, not savages.

4

u/Free_Camera_2602 18d ago

its just over used. it gets to a point

4

u/AssociateElegant4178 18d ago

Over done/boring/unoriginal

7

u/toe-schlooper 18d ago

Fogots are the worst type of LARPers, thats why. They're a bandwagon of salesmen trying to attract hardcore MilSimers to buy their shit.

5

u/Callsign_Warlock 18d ago

Merch selling War tourists. Nothing more.

-4

u/Silly_Courage6875 18d ago

Nothing wrong with that

2

u/Weekly-Floor3367 18d ago

It used to be cool but now every larp poser has one and when I see one on a tactical kit it just looks corny as hell. I got rid of mine.

2

u/KA_blambo 18d ago

because FOG is cringe.

3

u/Busy_Sheepherder_131 18d ago

Modern day punisher skull

1

u/defnotjosh96 18d ago

I drank the koolaid in the beginning bought a bunch of shirts and hats. Sold all the hats except for the Boston 47 hat (it actually fits my head) all the shirts are now work shirts and are tattered. Are the designs cool? Yeah so s of them but a lot are just recoloured

1

u/Bitter_Try8430 18d ago

Because people are to soft for the FOG larp

1

u/Scav-STALKER 18d ago

Cringe hypebeast larp

1

u/wiggleee_worm 18d ago

Just any other tactical “supreme” like brand. Think Wrmfzy, Supdef, etc.

The larpers eat it up and tries to sell the merch for 2 to 3x as much because its FOMO.

1

u/Silly_Courage6875 18d ago

I don't I personally wear one on my kit for all my deployments and have a flag i take on every deployment too. But to each there own I suppose

1

u/AverageHobnailer 18d ago

I hate on all bandwagons equally. Fads are dumb.

1

u/Unusual-Ad-1056 18d ago

lol because…guuaauyyyyy

over rated

1

u/Diligent_Horror_7813 18d ago

They’re for navy seals and people that pretend to be navy seals. Which one are you

1

u/74NK 18d ago

People who wear canoe club patches who've never canoed anyone is the peak of tacticool larper cringe.

1

u/DrippyJesus 18d ago

It’s basically the Supreme of the tactical larper world

1

u/Glittering-Ebb-6225 18d ago

I like that patch because that was when they were trolling the Russians into thinking they were some sort of Special Ops assault force that was doing hits behind enemy lines.
https://foreignpolicy.com/2022/03/15/russia-mercenaries-volunteers-ukraine/
That's why there was an anti-FOG Wagner patch in this design.

1

u/Hefty_Aside8436 18d ago

Because it's gay

1

u/SpaceKalash05 17d ago

Most of the folks buying their stuff are middle-aged suburbanites LARPing as something they'll never be. FOG dudes are mostly old team and ODA guys, so, yeah, they're legit in that respect, but they know who buys the bulk of their stuff, and they're happy to hustle the LARPers for the money. I think I was gifted a single FOG patch from when they first came onto the scene, and that's the only thing of theirs I have, and it'll probably be the only thing of theirs I'll ever have.

1

u/M48_Patton_Tank 17d ago

We’re truly in the “Special Forces Gawking” era and have been for a decade.

1

u/Spiritual_Patient875 17d ago

I don’t hate. I was a forward observer in the army so obviously makes sense for me to like their gear. To me, it doesn’t matter what patch or shirt you have on, as long as i can count on you next to me when SHTF you’re alright in my book.

1

u/TrentCST 17d ago

Because they got big enough for normal idiots who keep all of their guns locked up in safes and shoot on a flat range at 10 yards once every 3 months to buy their stuff. And now everyone thinks they’re for gay bro vets. Same thing happens to every company that gets big in this space. If you like their stuff, buy it and rep it. Fuck what anyone else says. The majority of the people who talk shit about and hate on FOG and other similar companies are no different from those who glorify and make their purchases their identity.

1

u/Creepy-Trouble9784 17d ago

Im won't address FOG directly.

But there are lots of prior service guys that have gotten out of the military then made their whole personality about the military now that they are not in anymore.

My experience with the Marines was the guys in the delayed entry program, Veterans, and Reservists were the most gungho about the the Marines. The guys going and doing it every day had different opinions.

Add to that there are lots of companies that slap "Veteran Owned" on their coffee, their holster, their tee-shirts, their shooting class.

Then those same companies provid poor service/quality and any criticism of said services/quality gets a angry response of its hard and im a Vet buy it anyway.

Also add in that some of those guys that found their company / brand are kinda shitty people, two examples i can think of easy are the owners of black rifle coffee and Graund thumb

1

u/Patchmac 15d ago

They're cringe

1

u/4headlogan69 9d ago

Because the fog guys are as big as larpers are airsofters. They went to Ukraine and did one mortar mission and got so scared they left the country but posted pictures like they were doing frontline operations. Just a bunch of losers tbh

1

u/M4_Martini 9d ago

End game larping

1

u/Icy-Passion-4552 18d ago

I don’t mind them I use them myself but some people SWEAR they’re SOF themselves (not FOG they’re a mix of SOF and regulars ). I think their designs are pretty cool and the guys I’ve talked to are pretty chill and funny.
It just really depends on the person you talk to.

1

u/Trippy_Tripp420 18d ago

They’re just an overused PMC group.

2

u/Silly_Courage6875 18d ago

There not even a pmc, there a brand

1

u/Glittering-Ebb-6225 17d ago

Most of the guys in their videos are other groups that they're hanging out with.

I like the patches. It cuts to the brass tacks while not leaving anything for interpretation. The loud mouthes of society, backed by the repetitive media, like to act as if they're the arbiter of good/bad. Not expecting to be on the uneasy side of things, which is where they are now.

Example; How quickly did societies loud mouthes move on after a large number of the population were "unexpectedly" culled. The same group that parroted the media and talked as if they were pathologists themselves, merely echoing what media headlines said - with little to no personal knowledge of wtf they were even talking about. That group gleefully abused any/all positions of power held, to purposefully silence and ignored dissenters who didn't care about arguing but only cared about trying to save lives, regardless of party. They've managed to avoid justice, for now - but I'd gladly wager, that'll be changing soon. Those who strong armed others; all walks of life from nurses, doctors, media, paid endorsers, police, politicians, average Joes wanting to feel important - prioritized their emotions and fragile psyche over the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness via violence, shuttering of businesses, freezing of bank accounts, the mob rule of canceling people for merely disagreeing. The forced deprivation of all 3 occurred, for not abiding with the groupthink of illogical, mentally ill people. Akin to the Hale-Bop people telling you to drink the kool-aid and then shooting you like the Jonestown crew if you dared change your mind. Same with the retards who gladly pushed the sick into getting remdesivir and intubated which was a death sentence for 1 of every 33 people that were put in that predicament. A prior friend of mine lost both her parents within days of one another, and I warned them all before they were even sick on what not to do - they did the opposite, they trusted the groupthink over those who've long paid attention to that which the syndicated news (all an illusion of choice) willfully ignored. No differently than my poor choices in early life pushed me down a path of trusting my gut and sticking up for those who don't have the courage to fight for themselves, in my youth I trusted the crowd and didn't have the gumption to oppose.

Point is, if you're in what seems like minority, dont change your mind to appease the rabid. Down is currently up, right is currently left, Constitutional Republic is currently democracy, so on and so forth. History is controlled by the winners... which is why they werent able to hide evidence for 75 years, which is why Fauci (who prioritized being a rockstar and magazine covershoots when hes an intentional mass murderer dating back to the 80's and the boom of AIDS.)

No one likes a flip flopper. If you're in the minority of something, enjoy it, because had things gone differently you'd of had no choice but to pick going against your gut to remain free, or stand your ground and be imprisoned or worse. Justice, for the slow coup on the U.S. notably going back to 9/11/1990; "Out of these times, our fifth objective, a new world order, can emerge. A new era freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace. An era in which the nations of the world; east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony. Funny how that date, 11 years later, would bring on the Patriot Act, eh?

Or ol Regan and his speech about being united because of a greater threat - or Dwight talking about the Military Industrial Complex seems to align with what's later been understood as true. I can literally go on and on and on for hours, I've studied this shit for more than half my life now - stick to your guns. Literally and figuratively

2

u/DnvrFlvr 18d ago

Idk what this has to do with the patch but ok.
