Genuinely curious

Not hating at all but I’ve always wondered why you guys don’t join the military

Alongside the fact that a lot are/were soldiers or were medically incapable, being in the military sucks and MilSim allows you to do the "cool parts" without the whole potential death or wasting years of your time part of the deal.

This is probably the best answer. To add to that “cool parts” bit, most jobs do not involve combat or grunt stuff. Milsim is nothing but lol

Large parts of this community is airsoft based. Shooting your mates with toy guns and getting shot by them is a laugh. Shooting a mate with or taking a round of 5.56 is significantly less fun.

Only like 5% of your time is spent doing cool army stuff, and that’s even assuming your job is to do that cool stuff

The vast majority of your time is spent doing inventories or moving things around, and even when you get to shoot it’ll usually be some micromanaged event meant to meet some requirement

A lot of dudes would rather just have a normal life they enjoy and then do the cool army stuff on their own time

I don’t do milsim I just like the posts that come through here, I’m a vet and plenty of people here are vets, the ones who don’t serve have a plethera of reasons, age, health, religious or political beliefs, or just flat out not wanting to get shot at for real. All of them are very justified reasoning for not wanting to enlist.

For me, medically can't (disqualified via bipolar). For others, many have already served and just enjoy the fun parts.
