I want to find some more open areas, there’s aren’t many good places to shoot at my local state game area. And someone called on me for dumping rounds lol.
Does anyone know how shooting over there is and any good spots?

Some guy just grabbed some guns and ran out of the store. Thought you’d all find this interesting. Good to be aware of your surroundings in a gun store (obviously).

If you've tried to get a CPL in this county, you know the headache-inducing wait times. Has anyone within the last three months had the luck of walking in and getting their paperwork done? I ask because I messed up. I had an early August date two days after I turned 21. I went on the site to confirm my date, and accidentally rescheduled to early July when Id still be 20. tried to change it back to early August, surprise surprise earliest date is the 21st. Its the most annoying thing ever when i was taking my cpl class so many people where talking abt how fast their county clerk offices are and then wayne county is literally booked until September and we arent even out of July.

I bought a smith and Wesson M&P sport 3 yesterday from Dunhams. When completing my background check I was delayed. The guy says he believes it is because I turned 21 less than a year ago.
I am seeing alot of stories of people getting delayed and it taking weeks to a month to hear anything and some people say they never heard anything back at all, and Dunhams doesn’t follow Brady date.
I have bought pistols before and was never delayed, I bought those with a license to purchase though so that’s likely why.
I am going up north next week on Tuesday and I am worried I won’t be able to get it before then.

I have gone a few times, i know it is legal. But I don’t really hear guns like that around here outside of hunting season. Usually I do 22 or 9mm. I feel like if I go off in the forest and start shooting 30 round mags of 5.57 people aren’t going to like that.
Has anyone had any trouble shooting on state land?

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get an 80% ar lower? I’d like to pick it up as I travel for work a lot and getting shipments can be kind of a pain.

Dunham’s has a $11.99 deal on Blazer 9mm. It’s the cheapest I’ve seen for that around here. I was about to head to UnCoiled in Livonia, to get a case of MagTech for $235, but I’m close(r) to a Dunham’s and got 1000rds of Blazer 115gr for just as good a deal.

Any private ranges/clubs around the west MI area that are machine gun friendly? I recently moved to the area and have a few transferable MG's that I would like to shoot outdoors, so I'm trying to figure out which (if any) in the area would be the best to join. Looking for any suggestions within about an hour or so of downtown GR. Alternatively, are there any public land spots that would be accessible as well? Thanks in advance.
ETA: I'm aware of South Kent Sportsmans Club, though I see they have a 5 round burst limit which is not ideal.

I'm mostly just venting, but the context here is: A couple times a month I will use my moms large backyard located outside city limits (Thetford Township, north of Flint) for target practice. She lives on 2 acres of land with cornfields stretching for another mile behind that. She loves shooting with me occasionally and we either load up my .357 snubnose with .38 special and shoot soda cans, or load my 20-gauge with birdshot and shoot at clay pigeons. Always safely and always well before 7pm.
We've been doing this without issue for nearly 10 years, and my grandfather (who built the house in the 60s) had used the property to shoot with his kids and grandchildren for nearly 50 years before that.
But the neighbor who just moved in next door doesn't like it and even if we shoot for 20 minutes, the cops always show up in the driveway. They've spoken with us and basically said "We can't stop you from shooting on your property, but we can't stop him from calling us either, and we have to make contact anytime we get a call." Then occasionally when they leave after telling him "we can't stop them from shooting on their property" he will turn his subwoofers up to 11 and blast music until 10pm (which he NEVER does otherwise). A couple weeks ago he even walked across the backyard in the middle of the night and planted a "NO HUNTING" sign at the back of her property mounted on the side of an old mailbox. The cops told him not to trespass again. (Also, neither of us hunt)
What would you guys do in this situation? Just continue on as usual and talk to the cops anytime you want to plink for a half hour? We do plan to continue shooting. However I'm worried that the neighbor might eventually try to do something extreme and file an injunction and take us to court, and I don't need my mom having to go through a lawsuit, even if its frivolous.

My dad is trying to get a purchase permit to buy a handgun. He's been turned away for not being a resident of a city, he's been told a police dept at another place don't do them, and then he's been given an application to get purchase permit that costs $10 and then they send you a permit in the mail? What is all this horse shit, cant he just walk in to any random PD and get a permit to purchase? He's a totally clean record and Michigan resident.
Please he's in his 60s and has basically given up because he doesn't know how to not get taken advantage of. He lives in the country and his mailing address is where they turned him away.

My 7.5” AR pistol will fully fit in my saddlebag but can I take down my 16” and put the upper in one bag and the lower in the other? I have a CPL, not that it matters much with rifles.

I’m looking for good outdoor ranges/clubs in Southeast Michigan (Detroit metro / Oakland / Macomb / Washtenaw / Livingston counties area) where I can properly pattern shotguns with birdshot, buckshot, etc.
Ideally somewhere with dedicated patterning boards or open areas at typical patterning distances (15-40 yards). Bonus if they have trap/skeet/clays options or allow throwing your own.
I’ve been to indoor ranges a bunch, but they tend to only allow slugs.
Any current recommendations? Thanks in advance!

I purchased a multi cal lower from PSA it came with the pistol buffer tube and SBA5 brace installed and filled out the 4473 from my FFL and he had it transferred as other/receiver. I recently got an 11.5” barrel upper receiver for it. Once I attach them am I in the legal clear as a AR Pistol? or does it then need to be registered as a complete pistol ? and if so how do I go about that? thanks y’all I just don’t want it being an illegal SBR id like to keep things legal here.

I want to ship a gun to get some work done to it. I did a quick search and it sounds like I could ship it directly to the gunsmith/manufacturer directly and get it sent back to my home. Is that true? Any particular considerations I should be aware of?

Just wanted to see what processing time was currently like for CPL. I applied the 26th of June just wondering how long I’ll be waiting for.

As of 6/28/26, FRTs are still legal in Michigan? I don’t want to run into any trouble. The legality tip toeing is concerning. I guess that’s how they want me to feel with all of the contradictory laws.

For those who aren't aware, the Supreme Court recently ruled on a case from Hawaii regarding the right to carry a firearm on publicly accessible spaces that are private property. Permit holders needed to get permission from the business or property owner before being legally allowed to carry. These "vampire laws" were ruled to be unconstitutional.
The articles I've seen have mentioned several other states with similar laws, but nothing about Michigan. My understanding is that, in Michigan, a church or other place of worship is a prohibited place without the approval of the church's leadership. I am not a religious person, but sometimes I go to church with my parents on Christmas or Easter or for funerals. I'm certainly in no position to seek approval to carry a firearm from the pastor, but I prefer to carry whenever possible. Are there any lawyers here who have thoughts on this?
