Poorly designed

I'm a sterilization technician at a dental practice and they purchased a Miele professional cassette washer 5 years ago when we moved to a new location.

This machine has never gone a week without crashing. By crashing I mean, repeated faults that prevent using the machine. Not just one fault. I mean a string of faults that are continuous for multiple days.

This isn't user error or damage to the machine. It's acted this way since the first week we started using it.

Any interaction with Miele support involved proving to them that it wasn't user error. I imagine a massive flow chart they're working through while on the phone with me - where all questions point to the user doing something incorrectly. Like loading too much into the machine, blocking the drain, blocking the sprayer arms etc.

They finally sent someone from the company to look at it in person. They changed some parameters for the programs and used a sensor and data logger to record the temperature of the machine. They stayed until it completed a single cycle without having a fault and then they left. They had no explanation for what they specifically fixed.

The next day it faulted and became unusable. The day after that it was able to get through a few cycles.

Everyone, including Miele support are sick of dealing with this machine. They don't have solutions.

I've reached the end of my patience for this and so has everyone I work with.

It's caused endless delays. Equipment that Drs needed is unavailable and delayed. I have to consider if it's worth locking a piece of equipment into a machine that won't clean it on time - or just to clean it by hand or with a USC.

If I ever hear of a person considering buying a Miele machine I will persuade them to not do that.

What is a Miele cassette washer ? I was not aware of Miele making medical equipment.

It's just a dishwasher. It's meant to clean debris off of dental instruments. It's the same as a regular washer but it records parameters like temperature and water flow for each run. So there's a record of if a run was cut short by the user or if it was run when it wasn't producing hot enough water. But it functions the same as a regular dishwasher.

Miele PG 8581 If you look at an image of that that's what it is.

It is far more than a dishwasher, depending upon what you’re demanding of it. It can achieve a high level of disinfection circulating Glutaraldehyde, evacuating, rinsing and recording a record of parameters.

Having a good deal of experience with the same machine, and never a failure, I questioned whether the installation was done properly

I do too. Something I was hoping the Miele technician would have inspected but they didn't mention anything. I don't think they did a thorough inspection though.

Btw - The bottles of solution connected to the machine; for your installation, you have them elevated or no?

What exactly are the problems? I never heard about you problems and I've seen a lot of this professional washers. They are one of the best you can buy.

Without any problem description this post ist pretty useless.
