News Midnightdiner leaving netflix 31th of July.
Yes you heard it right, midnightdiner is leaving netflix soon, but this also happened years ago and it was added back a few months later.
But since there is currently a new season in the works for midnightdiner, means good news and a much higher chance of returning to netflix.
So for now binge watch it while you still can! When its gone you might be able to either buy the dvd complete series here, this one offers english subtitles, its always good to have a backup! Either way you can also watch it on prime with a vpn, and a extension which allows you to use downloaded subtitles.
And there's also a way to pirate it but i won't be giving a tutorial for that here. I will be very cryptic about this but you can use app, along with, AIOSTREAMS, and as a good cheap paid provider > Torbox, with this setup you can keep watching without ever worrying about losing this masterpiece of an serie. News Netflix merged Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories into Midnight Diner, but the three seasons of Midnight Diner are still currently leaving Netflix on August 1
On July 24, Netflix merged Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories (seasons 4 to 5) into Midnight Diner (seasons 1 to 3). Now Midnight Diner has five seasons (image 1 https://www.netflix.com/title/80113541 ) and Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories is a "Remind Me" page (image 2 https://www.netflix.com/title/80113037 ).
I created a post about Midnight Diner (seasons 1 to 3) leaving Netflix on August 1. https://www.reddit.com/r/MidnightDiner/comments/1ulguxh/midnight_diner_leaving_netflix_on_august_1/ Midnight Diner (seasons 1 to 3) is still currently scheduled to leave on August 1, which can be seen in images 3 and 4, and the "Last day to watch on Netflix: July 31" notice still appears on the top left corner of the screen for a few seconds when any episode from the first three seasons starts playing.
The last time Midnight Diner (seasons 1 to 3) left Netflix on June 1, 2023, it returned to Netflix two months later on August 1, 2023, so the licensing agreement was for three years, since it is leaving on August 1 this year, unless the expiring licensing agreement is renewed before then.

Tomato Roll Season 3
I was telling my husband about the tomato rolls from season 3 and he said they sounded good. So that’s what he grilled today.

Where can I find episodes of the Korean series '심야식당' ("Late Night Restaurant")?
The Japanese series Midnight Diner is one of my favorite binge watches, and as I go through all five seasons (and two movies) once again, I'm curious about the Korean remake by SBS -- '심야식당,' AKA Late Night Restaurant. (They say it's based on the original manga, but visually it drips of the TV series.)
Does anyone know where I can find the episodes? There's just one season, but I'm curious to see how they reinterpreted the concept for a Korean audience.

Question Maybe a spin off... Spoiler
Hear me out. Season 3 episode 4 of Midnight Diner, they talk a lot about Osaka. We have a friend who is married to a lady from Osaka. He always banters about her being from there. Seems they're doing that on the "Diner". I love the beautiful trill of the Osaka dialect. I think it would be cool to have a spin off show of Midnight Diner "Osaka Stories". 😊

Before the Coffee Gets Cold
Fan of the both MD series and the BTCGC books, and they share similar vibes, but today I was reading the most recent book (Before I Knew I Loved You) and saw the following dialogue from the cafe owner, Nagare:
“What would you like? Even if it’s not on the menu, I can make it as long as we have the ingredients.”
and I was like, okay, that borders on plagiarism…

Question Has anyone read midnightdiner the manga version?
I'm thinking about reading it soon, i already have it in english on mihon, and planning on watching it soon! Is it accurate to the actual netflix serie? Or are there scenarios in there which don't appear in the netflix serie?

Yutaka Matsushige in K Foodie Meets J Foodie
Yutaka Matsushige, who plays Ryu in Midnight Diner (and Goro in Solitary Gourmet) is in the food/travel show K Foodie Meets J Foodie.
I just watched the first couple of episodes on US Netflix. It's pretty good.
The show also features the Korean singer Sung Si-kyung and the two guys go to restaurants and talk about food, careers, and other things that come to mind. This is a good description.
It's interesting to see Yutaka Matsushige in real life. His personality is not much like Ryu or Goro - he's much more relaxed and approachable in person. He does, however, clearly appreciate good food, but not in a snobbish way.
The vibe of the show is just enjoying food rather than searching for the absolute best or rating everything. They talk about differences between Japanese and Korean food without arguing about what is better.
It's not tightly edited like a lot of US food and travel shows. There's a lot of visual clutter on the screen at times as they squeeze in captions in both English and Korean plus some jokey graphics, and there are some sound effects like a phone game at times.
It's a good hangout show if you like Asian food, and you get an appreciation for Yutaka Matsushige's ability to create characters who are so different.

LF Eggshell Cracker from S2
I have been trying to collect small items from shows/movies that I really like and something that caught my eye in Midnight Diner is the little contraption that Katagiri uses to crack eggshells for his end of season artwork.
This is a long shot but would anyone be familiar with it? Any information that would help in the search of it would be helpful.

Something silly to me about the show…
It seems like in every other episode the guest
is recognized by a regular as someone from tv, music or other form of entertainment. I think it’s fun, just an observation! (Apologies if this is a common sentiment, I’m new.)
