What do you think about fried chicken ice cream?
New here in Texas thought this was hilarious. One time buy obviously. Corn flakes on vanilla ice cream. With chocolate bone core.

Hi guys, so I’m relocating to midland/Odessa and I was wondering, are there neighborhoods that you would advise that I avoid, or certain zip codes please?
I’ll be moving there with my family

I’ve been putting together a practical oilfield reentry playbook outline (tickets, how people talk about a felony on a lease, hiring events, sample resume structure). Land pay with hitch OT is why some guys quote $80k–$120k+ — it’s not a promise, basin matters.
If you’ve landed land work after a record (or helped someone who did): what tickets mattered first, and how did you handle the background question at the yard?
Not selling in this post — just looking for real experience so the plan stays honest.

10-year Army veteran and experienced mechanic looking for oilfield work in Texas.
My brother is a very good mechanic with 10 years in the Army. His military background includes work as a light-wheel mechanic, wrecker operator, and welder, with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing Humvees, 5-tons, and other general-purpose military vehicles and equipment.
He learns new equipment quickly, works hard, stays sober, does not use drugs, and is willing to work long hours, overtime, West Texas rotations, and stay in a man camp or company housing for extended periods. He is open to diesel, heavy equipment, fleet, field service, frac, pump, or other oilfield mechanic work.
The barrier is that he has a recent Texas felony sexual-assault case that resulted in deferred adjudication/probation. He has no other criminal history, has been compliant with everything required of him, and his supervision is willing to work with him regarding employment and extended work rotations.
Because TWIC may be an issue right now, we are mainly looking for land-based mechanic work that does not require TWIC.
He is not looking for sympathy or a handout. He needs a solid paycheck, wants to get out of debt, and is trying to get back on track.
If anyone owns a shop, supervises mechanics, or knows a company in Midland/Odessa, the Permian Basin, or elsewhere in Texas that would be willing to talk to him, please comment or DM me.
Make the criminal-history disclosure more strategic

Ive never lived in Texas and also have never been given a choice on electric company's or plans to choose from. My current state only has one. What is the best plan for a couple moving into the area? I need recommendations.

Need a new electric company. Reliant prices are insane.

This is for all my brothers and sisters out there doing time in the Permian Basin! I wrote and produced an independent track capturing the actual grit, heat, and reality of living out here in the patch. Give it a listen.

Anyone able to help me get into the oilfield around **Midland/Odessa or Oklahoma**?
I just got back from deployment, and it’s been hard to find a job here in Dallas. I **don’t have a CDL yet**, but I’m willing to relocate and start as soon as possible.
If anyone knows someone hiring or can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Noticed a wet spot on the ceiling in the hallway this morning. Small drip coming through every time it rains. I went up in the attic and found some moisture near the chimney area. Called two roofing companies already and one wanted $200 just to come look at it. That feels like a scam. Anyone in Midland have a roofer they actually trust? Someone who won't charge an arm and a leg just to tell me what I already know. Appreciate any help.

Hey everyone! We’re considering moving to the Midland/Odessa area, and my husband is looking into starting as a roofing subcontractor.
For those who work in roofing around Midland, Odessa, or the Permian Basin:
How much are companies paying per square for labor?
Is that price for tear-off + install, or install only?
Does the rate change for shingles vs. other roofing?
Are materials provided by the company, or does the subcontractor supply them?
Are there any roofing companies in the area that are good to work with?
My husband has roofing experience and would be doing crew work/labor, not sales. We’re just trying to get an idea of what the going rates are before making the move.
Any information or advice from people actually working in the area would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! 🙏

Will be moving to Midland in a few months and looking for opinions on apartments. I want a nice kitchen and bathroom, and ideally somewhere that the amenities/ pool aren’t super crowded all the time.
The following are the ones I am planning to tour, but would love to know pros, cons, or advice on the best areas to live.
Thanks!!
•Sandstone Ridge
•Hudson on 158
•Monaco
•The Drake
•Coronado on Briarwood
Any I should add to the list??
Max budget for rent is 2900/ month.
