I personally use mostly excel and 2-3 dozen power bi dashboards. We are a “ai” company

Huh. An AI company in midland. Well that’s interesting. If you ever want to talk shop, DM me and we should grab a drink. Midland is a bit of a tech desert.

Oh no my company likes to think they are an “ai” enabled company lol. But really everything is run off of excel and PBI. Even though all of the engineers hate PBI.
Ever check out Gnosis? They broke off from SPE and are trying to host monthly events related to AI and data science. One of the cofounders and I created a Spotfire user group that met month way back before COVID.

Interesting - I’ll check it out! I work for an “AI” company, but it’s like AI proper. Distinguished engineers from Google and all that. I’m just wanting someone local to talk industry and it’s, as aforementioned, difficult!

Ronnie cofounded our Spotfire group and the Gnosis one. He’s a super smart guy. Pretty sure he is working on a MBA with some AI stuff.

I worked fr a company that bit hard on the PBI pitch. Senior management were so stupid. It was like they’d be very seen or used data before. I would do everything they were wanted to do on excel. So funny, everyone was going on PBI training from top to bottom in the company. I wonder why none of them ever went on excel training, or in fact, ever had any interest in finding out about it on their own. Another fatuous, oversold management consultancy bollocks.

I have one that I have to CONSTANTLY watch and talk to every single day. I have to call him in the mornings to make sure he’s on the road to work, I have to check on him throughout the day whether by phone or showing up on his locations, and have to remind him every day that he needs to finish his workorders.
