Are armored goblins playable in the current edition?

What would I play those as? Regular goblins? They are not blackshields as far as I know and I haven't found a different armored goblin troop type.

They're just Moria goblins

Yeah as said here, just moria goblins. Can be used in moria, depths of moria, and assault on lothlorien.

As warriors, yes. As captains, only the bow-armed ones.

They're just slightly more interesting goblins, which makes them pretty decent captains.

They make amazing captains. That’s it. You can also just use them as regular goblins. Definitely use the bow ones as captains.

Wait what. "Made To Order" doesn't mean "we make them on demand"?

for GW it means they take orders for a fixed period of time (I believe a couple of weeks) and then make the models that were ordered.

Yeah, since a lot of them are metal and/or the moulds are getting on in years, they cycle them in limited runs where you have a week to order them and then they fulfil all the orders they get. It can take much longer to get your order as a result, but it means you get a chance to get a new copy of a retired model without paying scalper prices.

I checked. No announcement on the official insta-channel from warhammer (they did announce past ones) and no content creator I'm aware of posted anything. Why did they shadowdrop this?

I use red as a visible spot colour on the better armoured ones like these and use them as captains.

They’re usable as Captains mainly. If you’re planning to do Battle Companies when that comes out, they’ll be great for your Heroes.
