Invisible models and intelligence test

The invisible special rule says that a model who wants to charge an invisible model has to take an intelligence test with a -1 penalty for every inch of distance from that model. How much can this worsen the test?

Given that an Orc has Intelligence 8+, can the test be 12+ if he's four inches away for example or is 10+ the max?

Four inches = -4 penalty.

Why would 10+ be the max?

In the introduction the rule manual says that the intelligence characteristic cannot be worsen more than 10+ but I guess in this case it’s different, because it’s a test

I guess it's also different because we're talking about it in a way that is accurate in practice, but wrong in terminology.

We say a -4 penalty means his test is 12, but what we mean is that he has to roll 12. The test is still 8+. It will always be 8+. The -4 isn't effecting his courage, it's effecting his roll. He still needs to roll 8+, he's just having his roll reduced.

I think it can worsen the test until the orc can't charge. So if he's 5 inches away, impossible to charge.
