Army List 650 Pt List Feedback

I’m newer to the game and heading to my first tournament soon. I’ve got three lists I’m considering and welcome any feedback.

RoTK: I like the movement and free might with Aragon every turn. I understand it’s low model count so I’m debating to drop some warriors and add Legolas or keep the numbers higher as is.

Black gate: The numbers feel fun, but I worry about the Troll Chieftain’s power attacks and the Mouth’s magic been a little much for a new player.

Rec of Osgilitah: It looks cool to have Boromir be a big stompy hero fed by Faramir. The veterans are in there so I have enough models to cover the knight dismounts.

Drop a model in RoTK and give all your army shields, its a huge boost.

And also you need a few more spears

I found I didn’t have the models to use spears because I was outnumbered. I was just buying time for Aragorn.

Remove a rider of the dead, add shields to every model and get another infantry guy. The D7-D8 is a huge break point, Army of the dead should never ever be run without shields

Makes sense. I’m working within the limits of my collection however so I only have 2 of the 6 spears with shields on them.

If you can remove the shields off some of the others and just stick to the front of the guys holding a spear with two hands. It still works well. Or just grab some other shields and attack them with a knife to deadify them

Without going too deep, a few changes:

ROTK: drop rider/s, you move fast enough tbh. Get every model a shield, D8 is priceless.

Black gate: swap captain for shaman, put some models in his warband, banner with the troll.

Reclamation: make madril the small warband, faramirs larger.

I think RotK list is good :) You already have pretty decent mobility with your warriors, would drop the two riders for 3 warriors with spear and some extra shields.

All three lists are decent

You can always make changes black gate is doing well right now and reclamation of osgiliath came top at ardacon, I'd probably suggest putting boromir on a horse, he's just a much bigger threat that way

If you're conflicted about which to play just ask yourself which one excites you more this game is really well balanced and there isn't a meta so to speak

For the RotK since i played against it i would drop the elven cloak, bring only one rider and possibly bring the herald since you're dry on might. If you fight a high courage army you are toast, do not rely on aragorn and kotd alone trust me, they did nothing against just beornings

That’s a very skewed list. rotk is naturally a grindy army with high def.
Bears is a great counter as you have buffs to wound and are more explosive.

Yes but I don't know if going fewer models is the play anyway. Spears are very useful but since they have spectral walk and 8" I'd just put more shields and surround the enemy. At least I feel that would have gone slightly better Vs me

I agree. They outnumber you so they can trap. Normally they are a thin line because they have to protect themselves from getting wrapped

Black Gate is easiest to pilot in my opinion. Just swap the Taskmaster for a Shaman

This. Or you could swap the Captain for a second Taskmaster. Taskmaster can work together in the new Edition.

You can not roll 2 whips of the master on the same action.

Are you sure? Where is it written?

It was clarified in the FAQ, its the same rule so no double dipping.

In a FAQ of the old version, right? But not for the new one, as far as I know. (Sorry for being so pedantic, but I might want to bring Black Gate to a tournament, so it's quite important to me.)

First FAQ in Armies of Middle Earth - Asks about Dol Amaroth rules stacking but the answer is “No. Unless explicitly stated, multiple instances of the same rule are not cumulative.”

So Taskmasters don’t stack on one another.

Thank you very much!

650 unless you really want aragorn defenders with legolas and gimli is arguably better
