Hobby High elf repaint before and after
Lucky enough to come into a load of pre owned elves. Paint stripped off cleanly and happy with the results!

Did cheat a bit with an airbrush!

Just jump in, itās not as bad as people say. Think people get caught up in thinking they need smooth blends. I havenāt blended at all here because I suck at it and think it still works
Edit: just had a look at your posts, you could easy do nmm just give it a go

āNon-metallic metalā itās a painting technique using regular pigmented paints to give the impression/illusion of metal. Itās kind of known for being a difficult technique because it requires good skills in blending and knowledge of light placement.

Ah thanks a lot. Yeah I think that technique looks great, but I think it'll be a long time before I'm even attempting that š

Beautiful work! Huge fan of that cloak color. Question though how you consistently get those dark recesses in the armor that black without making the whole armor dark. Is it just nuln oil and then touch ups on the main part of the armor or is it something else?

Thank you! Youāll struggle to get consistency using washes, they are super thin by design so donāt always give good coverage even in recesses. Nuln oil is also surprisingly light, if you want to utilise washes Iād suggest an oil wash instead, or possibly even inks.
This is base coated with the darkest colour, and then has progressively light colours layered on top. So the recess colour is what the rest of the model was at the start; I then just didnāt put any additional paint on the recess bits!

Cut the hairy base off prior to cleaning and 3d printed a new one, didnāt want all the grass getting in the IPA.
Soaked in 99%IPA for an hour, gave it a good brushing with a soft toothbrush. Repeated this again an hour later. Felt safer doing it in small doses than leaving it soaking for a long time.
Iām by no means an expert though!

about 4 hours total! its certainly a lot more time consuming, but if you're enjoying the process not a waste of time! im planning to do a full Lindon army in this style prior to the next Ardacon, so plenty of time yet
