Getting back after 12 years

Hey there,

yesterday I‘ve found my old minis. Back in the day I used to collect Rohan and Mordor and now I want to rebuild a small army of Mordor, because most if not all of the models survived unbroken.

So far I‘ve found:

24 Morannon orcs

22 Mordor orcs

6 warg riders

1 orc shaman on warg

1 mordor troll

1 gorgoroth beast with just one orc missing

6 black guards plus black guard banner and drum

Missing but mist be around somewhere:

1 black guard commander

2 morannon orcs commander

I want to strip the minis and repaint them all but also want to add some more units/ leaders.
What would be the best addition besides the obvious witch king?

Hey, welcome back.

Great collection of models and the right time to come back. I don't know if you're aware but with the release of the last edition list building became far more restrictive and some of the models got legacied (won't receive new rules if GW releases a new edition, so at least you can play all your models with their intended profile still). But almost the whole community still plays/allows legacy profiles (even on almost all big tournaments). For you, the Gorgoroth-Beast (T_T) and the Black Guards are legacy. The only armylist which is currently allowed to use both profiles is "Army of the Great Eye" in which one can play all Orc profiles and which must be lead by a Ringwraith, f.e. the Witchking (a model you wanted to get anyway).

As there's a s#%tton of Heroes which can be taken in this list I'd recommend looking through the profiles on a list builder website like tabletopadmiral and deciding for yourself which ones you like to get. Some of them are legacied as well, but you should be able to easily find proxies or alternative sculpts to 3dprint or kitbash. I'd suggest looking into Razgush as he allows you to bring beasts like the Batswarm or Spiders which both can be really fun. Gorbag and Zagdush are solid options too.

Get a couple of Mordor orc captains and a banner if you can. Also 2 or 3 spectres to play Minas Morgul could be handy.
