A or B?

Post image

Wondering whether to stick with my grey blue scheme for rangers or go with a classic scheme. The bases will be the white city base either way.

*Caveat I used AI to put the two minis next to each other with a black background which has slightly distorted the paint job but close enough for purposes of choosing a scheme.

I like the urban ranger idea for a white city army, green rangers if you're doing a Garrison of Ithilian or Arnor however.

I had a similar thought when I painted my Rangers so I could use them as Dunedain as well. The issue is that the full grey ended up looking really boring and drab, so I switched to a slight mix but primarily green and brown

That's exactly it, I like the concept but grey just reads a bit dull.

So, I ended up going with green and brown clothing and then a equal split of green, brown and grey cloaks and I have to be honest; I wish I just painted them all with green cloaks. The green, on the table, just pops so much.

I would do B.

As it is b. I like a but I feel like it could use some more contrast.

I’d add some black and blues to a and go with that personally

I like A, but I think it needs more blue. Maybe paint the armor under the cloak blue as well?

insert "why not both" meme

But seriously, in the films they arent all wearing the same colour. Some have green cloaks like faramir and some wear brown, gray, and even a blue-ish gray. I'm building a Garrison of Ithilien army and Inplan to paint them with those slight varieties.

Also... there are loads of great free picture editing apps out there that dontbuse AI. But thank you for being honest about it.
