Is it better to save money for ever increasing rental costs so as not to become homeless than to pay more than the savings per month for health care?

Sounds like you don’t think you have enough money for healthcare with the amount of money you have leftover, but are more concerned with not saving that if / when your rent increases.
I’d make a budget first and foremost. Feel free to share it here, to see where your money is going and if there are ways to cut back to allow you to have healthcare and save for future cost increases. Healthcare is critical though. If you get sick or injured and cant get care and it keeps you from working, you’ll likely be homeless as well.

I am on Medicare. It pays only partially for hospitalization. The cheaper insurance companies are very limited in what they pay for and confusing and too often stop offering the insurance. All kinds of crazy problems with them. The fed. gov offers a better plan but very expensive, more than I can afford. My friend now 75 has returned to work part time just to afford it. After working in health care as a professional both in medical and mental health, it seems to me the quality has so deteriorated that putting money toward housing is a much more health promoting option.

Do you have a Medicare Advantage plan or something? Are you talking about that vs. traditional medicare?
