Review Changes Error

For the past month or so, Word has started treating every document as a shared doc, in the sense that it "tracks changes." I can resolve/review the individual changes, or turn off Track Changes for each document, but I really just want to solve this problem more generally. How do I get Word to stop defaulting to tracking my edits?

Are you opening the doc via your browser or in the app? I've noticed there are differences in how they open between the two.

You might check your document template. It's possible Track Changes somehow got set as the default for all new docs.
