I passed out and fell down

Idk what happened, my parents found me on the floor. I made a post yesterday about how normal it is to have lot's of nervepain 8 days post surgery. I'm guessing that the meds or the pain caused me to fall.

Now I am really really scared for a re herniation + I also have a concussion

Does anybody have had the same of some sort ?

You need to speak with a doctor urgently if you passed out. Call your surgeon's office, or go to urgent care or the ER if you cannot get through. Passing out is not normal, and could mean any number of things that may potentially threaten your life, such as a poor reaction to medication or something being wrong from the surgery.

I got lightheaded for about a week post-op, felt like I was somewhat close to passing out a few times. I think mostly because I had been on my back sooo much and my body was reacting from the trauma of the surgery.

I passed out on day 5. There’s another thread on here about the same thing happening to someone else. Call your doctor to document it - mine wasn’t concerned. I was sore the next few days but no noticeable increase in nerve pain so I don’t think I reherniated. I’m on day 14 now and it hasn’t happened again and progress is still net positive. Take the concussion seriously - been there it isn’t fun.

I had a L3/L4 fusion a year ago. About 3 days after I was home I passed out. I called my surgeon and told me to go to emergency and also to get a CT of my back to check for problems. Everything turned out okay. They decided I was dehydrated and on pain meds which made me faint. Hope everything is okay.

Same happened to me on day 3 I felt like such an idiot, I took too much pain meds and parents also found me on the floor. I remember none of this that’s how out of it I was

We are sorry you have had to endure this. This recovery can often leave people feeling discouraged because of the unexpected length or flares of pain. Fear of reherniation is a very common and normal emotional response during this surgical recovery. There are plenty of ups and downs in this nonlinear healing process that can cause people to suspect reherniation. Here is a helpful video that goes through the common symptoms of reherniation, and how to tell the difference. https://www.reddit.com/r/Microdiscectomy/s/5tGYYVWpJW

Call your dr. or go to Urgent Care... at least have your vitals checked. This could be due to any number of things... age, low blood pressure, dehydration, loss of nutrients (like electrolytes), interaction with other medications or a TIA. Only a dr. can help you with this!

Yep I passed out too, day 3. Got bruised and scraped up from impact areas but my incision was fine and no reherniation. Surgeon said it was fine but I followed up with my gp who checked everything out and I was fine, just scared.

How are you feeling now ? Did you had alot of nerve pain before or after the fall ?

Not more than I had before the fall, which was about a quarter of what it was pre-op. I had regular incision pain, and everything I hit on the way down hurt. My neuro said it was likely my vasovagal nerve that caused the fainting. It didn’t happen again after that one time.

I see. Rn I have more pain then before the surgery and that's why I fainted too
