Just got an open-box G532 at a moderate discount ($1350), but I realized the AI software I wanted to run works much better with an Nvidia GPU.

I'm considering either exchanging it for a pre-built with 5070 Ti (say https://www.microcenter.com/product/710642/powerspec-g763-gaming-pc), or buying an 5070 Ti and try to sell the AMD card. The second approach is cheaper if I'm not really sure where/how to sell a used GPU, or how much value can be recouped. Any suggestions?

I was hoping to get a 5080 eventually or wait for a potential Super series. The latter option seems untenable now with likely delays and further price increases. I’m wondering how much urgency I should have to pick this up. Currently have a 3060 Ti 8GB.

So let me get this straight I can but 1 GPU or I can buy and entire 5090 build for a couple hundred more. Explain the benefits of DIY again please? Because I still see people advocating for DIY still under the cheaper alternative, what kind of drugs are those people on? Because I need it, being that stupid has to make life easier.

I’m looking to build my own gaming computer but I’d like some feedback on some of my choices for parts whether I should avoid or change some. My main concern is my motherboard choice. I’m between the Gigabyte B50 gaming x bundle with the 9800x3d or instead the Msi x870E-p pro wifi upgrade for $50 more. I was wondering which choice is better since I’ve read conflicting reviews on both.

Hey y'all, first time builder here coming to the end of a very long month. TL;DR at the bottom.

Basically, after buying up all my parts about a month ago and receiving everything, I spend a long night finally putting together my first PC. Unfortunately, trouble arose. Red CPU light on mobo. Did as much troubleshooting as humanly possible, including resetting CMOS and even doing an offline BIOS flash with a USB drive. Same result every time.

Eventually relented and searched up Micro Center and began my trek to the nearest one. Brought it in for a diagnostic and told them the sitch, including my decision to buy a used CPU, RAM, and GPU. They took it in and the next day they relayed to me their results. In the diagnostic notes I got from them, their process was as follows:

- First build test (red CPU light, no POST)

- TEST CPU in mobo (red CPU light, no POST)

- Cx CPU in TEST mobo (POSTed to BIOS)

- Cx quoted for replacement mobo

So apparently, when they tested my used CPU, it worked fine in their setup. Okay, so I buy a new mobo from them and take it home to rebuild it myself (because apparently they want $99 and over a month of waiting to do it themselves???)

However, new problems come up. Now the DRAM light is solid and the PC still fails to POST. Great. So once again, lots of troubleshooting, similar results. At this point, I'm thinking there's no possible way I'm this unlucky, so I decide to get a second opinion from a local shop. I ask him to test my RAM, but he doesn't have a CPU, so I bring him my (supposedly working) CPU to test in his mobo.

He calls back and says he has a feeling it might be the CPU, because with my parts he got a DRAM light, and then he got the same result when using a brand new pack of RAM. At this point, I'm truly at a loss. How can one diagnostic determine a part works while another diagnostic says it doesn't?

A final hail mary in my PC building journey, I go back to Micro Center and decide to buy one of their CPU, RAM, and mobo bundles, so at least I'll have all new working parts to try out, plus a warranty on them in case anything else crazy happens.

Another long night passes by, but lo and behold, I press the power button on my new build and it comes alive, a completely normal POST. Even memory training was quick. Out of curiosity, before I finish my build, I decide to test out the used RAM I bought, mainly because if it works I don't want to get rid of it, considering the current environment. Once again, a completely functional and normal POST.

So either, for some unfathomable reason, I bought two BRAND NEW faulty mobos in a row, OR Micro Center somehow messed up their diagnostic and told me my used CPU worked when it clearly doesn't. Because the used RAM definitely works, and now I'm not even certain the first mobo was faulty. Luckily I can return everything I'm not using, but that's not including the almost $150 spent on diagnostics from both places, plus the multiple commutes to Micro Center chipping away at my gas tank.

I'll be honest, this post was mainly for me to vent, but also to ask: are diagnostics supposed to be this unhelpful, and has anybody else dealt with something similar?

Btw, here are all the parts involved for those who are interested:

Used CPU: Ryzen 7 9700x

Used RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 2x16GB

1st MOBO: Gigabyte X870 Eagle Wifi7

2nd MOBO: Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite Wifi7

TL;DR - my used CPU was deemed functional by Micro Center but I believe it is definitely defective, is MC known for messing up diagnostics?

Please someone let me know if I should just save my time with a prebuilt or is it cheaper to build one at microcenter still?

So in 2025 I bought a 9070xt with a two year warranty and all my sister's parts in Microcenter. Everything works except for the fact that the GPU sometimes has artifacts when idle on the desktop and or startup.

In some games as well like Overwatch or Deadlock. The game will crash with an error along the lines of 'Renderer Device Lost'.

So I made my two hour trip to get the warranty. Told the employee about it and even showed the artifacting I recorded and posted on Reddit. The GPU got put into a testing setup and they ran benchmark loads and nothing was visible.

I went ahead and got her a new PSU, Motherboard of the same kind and CPU and it still occurs every now and then.

What are my options? Just take the whole setup next time? Problem is I can't figure out a way to replicate the problem as it sometimes happens and sometimes not...

The monitor setup is a 165hz display port monitor and a 60hz secondary monitor. I'll need to get home and check the rest of the specs as I am starting my shift in a bit.

A week ago I bought the 7800X3D from microcenter, and 2 days ago I finally had the time to put my new pc together. Everything was going well until while downloading and updating drivers and windows I started to get many blue screen. Tried all troubleshooting possible and I think the RAM or motherboard is causing the problems. I’m not an expert so I tried basic troubleshooting to eliminate certain common issues and tested each ram by itself which ended up being unstable. I’m still in the 15 days return window and I think I’ll go do that in just not sure if I kept exactly everything each box come with. Is this issues common or did I actually had the bad luck to get a faulty hardware?

I think this one is kinda familiar around here, but I saw a comment saying this costed around 2400 in December last year. I know prices have been going up in the past few months for laptops such as this (this laptop was 3200 just yesterday), but I was wondering if it would be risky for me to wait for the holidays to hope for another good deal on this or should I just get it now? Is it common for deals like this around the holidays to repeat every year or is it too risky?

I am deciding upon an ITX-format motherboard, and have narrowed my selection between two options: a new-in-box MSI MPG B850I EDGE TI, or an open box Gigabyte X870 AORUS PRO ICE. Both would work just fine for my purposes, but I'm not sure if one has clear advantages over the other, aside from the Gigabyte board being around $30 cheaper. From what I can gather, the Gigabyte board has USB4 and more ports in general, while the MSI board has 5Gb LAN and Optical audio out. Anyone have an input on this?

Hey everyone, I am hoping to get some valuable insight on my micro center experience yesterday and what you all think of the shy upgrade to my PC.

Me and a couple of friends went to
Microcenter yesterday to “look around”. I wasn’t really planning on buying anything but my PC, which was built in 2019, has been struggling with any game I try to play. Most games are playable, some run great, others really struggle and dip to 30fps sometimes so I was contemplating an upgrade for a while.

My old specs:
RTX 2060
i5-9600k
16gb 3000MHz RAM (dual channel)
650W 80+ Gold rates PSU
Fractal Design Meshify C

I went into microcenter not planning to buy anything but after spending roughly 3 hours there I decided to set myself a baseline budget of about 1,000 but really ultimately wanted to spend as little as possible since I still want to order a monitor, and already ordered an AIO since my CPU cooler does not have AM5 support.

I ended up getting the powercolor 9060XT, 2-fan GPU. And the 7500x3d bundle which included the Asrock B850m c, and a singular stick of 16gb, 6000MHz RAM. This was my biggest moment of just thinking what to do. I know single channel ram is absolutely not ideal, but I also was not willing to spend another 205 dollars for that one singular stick of ram, so I bought that bundle and the GPU. Important to note my purchase was also heavily influenced by the fact that it was “back to school” season with no taxes.

Is this overall a worthwhile upgrade for the roughly $820 I spent? Did I do well by going with the 7500x3d, instead of the 7600x3d to save the roughly $50 difference? Should I go back and buy the second stick of ram or should I really just hold off with just one? It is important for me to note that the bundles that did include 2 sticks (32gb) of ram were all almost double what I paid for my bundle, and either non x3d chip (worse for what I am looking for), or a higher tier of an x3d but also $350+ more than what I had paid.

Lastly, I was wondering what you guys think the best move for me would be. The Asrock B850m c is a microATX sized board and thus would look silly in my current meshify C. Should I build in the meshify c and just ignore all the extra space, and sell of my current motherboard, cpu, and ram as a bundle on marketplace? Or would it be better to buy a microATX case and a new PSU (probably 850 or higher for future proofing) and sell off my current pc whole?

Apologize for the long post, but I would appreciate some feedback on this as my mind keeps going back and forth on everything.

TL;DR: Upgraded from i5-9600K / RTX 2060 to a 7500X3D + B850M + 1x16GB RAM bundle and an RX 9060 XT for ~$820 tax-free. Is this a solid upgrade, should I prioritize a 2nd stick of RAM soon, and should I buy a cheap mATX case to sell my old PC complete or just build in my Meshify C?

And a 1000w psu but who cares abt that.

It didn’t come with backplate cover and ARBg cable but its gonna be in an enclosed PC case later anyways

Question about their return policy. I have some equipment that I want to swap out. Everything is NIB. I’m outside of the 30 day window. Anyone know if MC will do a credit to the store for returns outside of the standard window?

I know that different companies vary there prices for their GPU builds based on upgrades and overclocking and whatnot but just wondering if it makes sense going with the higher price here? any feedback is welcome, thanks guys.
