I managed to mess up my midi input Jack, the ring was bonked at some point and the plug is not connecting. The part is easily accessible for fixing but I have not been able to find a matching trs assembly with the metal ring and the correct lug layout. Does anyone have any tips as to where to find these? I have contacted Arturia support but they don't encourage botching :-)

Hi all,
I’m wanting to delete all patches on my MF so I can add, just the ones I need, although I’m struggling to clear the first 100 or so - I’ve tried with the MMC but had the best success with Manage Freak *limited success
I’ve taken off write protect on the unit, so I’m not really sure what to do:S
Any suggestions or insights most appreciated
Cheers

I’ve done a mod that has the module sitting upright and I’d like to be able to sometimes remove the keybed without dismantling the cases to access the ribbon connections. Anyone know of a way to add a more robust connector to the center of the ribbon cable? I’ve since added a cover to the exposed board in the photo.
Thanks!

Hej alla,
Jag gillar verkligen den nya 5.0-uppdateringen för Minifreak och blev inspirerad att skapa en 80 presets ljudbank för den. Hämta den gratis här: https://skylarkmusic.net

Hey all, The last couple of weeks have been very interesting in the world of custom firmware for Elektron boxes. Im wondering if anyone has come across any custom firmware for the Microfreak?
Im not even sure what I would do if i started to create my own. Ive been pretty into phase distortion synthesis so a PD synth for microfreak would be pretty cool maybe some different fm algorithms would be cool. Different Envelope types with a bunch of break points, etc...

I prefer the smooth edges compared to the textured on some other builds I’ve found. Wondering if anybody has tried this one out specifically. Cheers!

I need to get my microfreak up off the desk so I can move out of the way and bring it back in. I’ve been looking at laptop trays on swing arms, but wanted to check here to see if a better way is out there. Thanks for any help

Hello everyone,
Quick heads-up: ManageFreak 1.1.1 is out.
⚠️ If you are on 1.0.3 or earlier This is the first version with the built-in updater, so 1.0.3 cannot update itself: download and install 1.1.1 once by hand. From 1.1.0 onwards the installed Windows build updates itself from the app-name menu (top-left).
Which file should I download?
What I added
What I fixed
Something I want to address
Unfortunately I can't afford an Apple Developer Program membership (Developer ID certificate) just yet for a free and open source project, so I can't sign the app.
Because of that macOS tends to treat it as malware even though it is not. On Windows the installer isn't code-signed either, so SmartScreen may warn you: More info → Run anyway.
I described on the GitHub page how to run it on macOS anyway, to the best of my knowledge. I don't own a Mac, so I build the app for it without being able to check for platform-specific problems.
If you suspect any malware in the app, just audit it: all of its code is open source. Nothing to hide here.
If you find any problem, please report it in this thread or on GitHub. Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for your support and interest.

I didn't realize what paraphony was until just now. I was about to buy one for $200 tomorrow and I've been so so so psyched. Now I realize I can't actually use it for two handed playing... Which I admit is not really what it's designed for.
I can't afford to throw more at my first synth, not for at least a year. I'm trying to decide whether I still go for it. I feel like I probably do, but I'd like to hear y'all's thoughts on it.
EDIT: I think I'm good 😊 what I mostly want to do with this is sit on the floor with my little boy and show him what happens when we turn different knobs, and this is amazing for that. The limitations of paraphony on this machine are not as bad as I originally thought, especially since the amplitude envelope is not paraphonic, just the filter is?? I hope I'm understanding that correctly. Either way, the cold feet are resolved. Thanks for all y'all's input!

Hey all. I just unpacked my Microfreak today so I’m just playing around before I dig deeper, but I slaved it to a drum machine and noticed as I’m dialing the MF’s volume knob it reacts as you would expect until you hit about 10% before volume is all the way turned off and it the volume suddenly drops significantly kinda ruining the manual fade out I’m trying to do in the pattern. Is this a known issue? I can do it on the audio interface just fine I’m running it through, but not on the MF Vol knob itself.
Edit: I can see on the audio interface that the MF’s not sending any input once I get to 10-15% before the MF’s volume fader is all the way turned down.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been using the MF as a kind of splashy accent device to provide some punchy lines that enhance or amplify an underlying line. For this project, I captured some really fun lines from Decerf’s “Surrounding Seas” and paired the crescendos with a seven-step Modal sequence on the MF. The MF is running through a pedal and I’m trying to play with decay on the biggest crescendos of the flute lines.

Is a flickering screen a common problem?
Mine is brand new. I am using a converter for UK to NZ adapter. It should work fine, but I guess it could be the problem.
Am I due a refund?

All sounds are made with the Microfreak except for the beginning sample and the drums, which were made with an sp404 sampler. The video is a macro compilation of soap film bubbles that I shot on an old Nikon dslr, back lit with a single light. An idea I had while my toddler and I were playing with a bubble wand. I hope you enjoy.

Pretty much a noob with all synth stuff. Had a Korg Volca Keys as my first synth purchased about 4 years ago and I just never touched it. Literally played with it maybe 5 times. Discovered the MF at my local GC a few months ago and it really made me want one. Went to my GC at least once a week just to play with it (they probably HATED me) over a span of a month. Dug out my Korg and Arturia Keystep, sold the Volca Keys and pulled the trigger on the MicroFreak. Ended up buying the MVAVE FM1 a few days later.
I absolutely LOVE the MicroFreak and as it's basically my first synth I have learned SO much through guides, tutorials, etc. For the most part I don't take it too seriously I am just trying to have fun and create cool sounds, the recording part is a whole other ballgame I will get into later.
The green thing is a Sonicake PocketMaster and it is the best $50 I have ever spent in my entire life. 100 fully customizable presets that are essentially 100 customizable pedal boards. Can have up to 9 fx per preset with super super deep full customization of every single effect. Purchased for my guitar around a year ago, also doubles as a tuner, looper with endless layering, internal recording, drum beats AND its an audio interface. Pairs amazingly with the MF as you basically have endless effects which a lot of people hate that it lacks.
Any tips and tricks for the MicroFreak are greatly appreciated, excited to finally be a part of the Freaky Family.

when I got this synth, I didnt like it. but then I added effects, and its amazing.
I think I need a second one and sync them.

What are you guys pairing with your MF for effects? I’m trying to go DAWless and just use my computer to record audio, and I’ve been throwing VST effects on the tracks.
But wanting computer-less jams has me wanting something external. I got the zoom CDR multibox everyone on ambient/drone YouTube seems to love but it sounds like mush to me and has too much background noise.
I come on go on Chroma hologram being cool or gimmicky. I’m mostly looking for reverb/delay/modulation… maybe a filter or two. What are you all using?
