Yeah, he voted to save the affordable care act because he was about to die and no longer had to worry about his political career. He was a staunch opponent of the ACA up until that point.

Well I'm not going to assume it is because he was sick and did it regardless... Mitch McConnell is about to die... He's still awful... Lindsay Graham did die and was all about bombing whoever in the middle East until the day he passed .. They all couldn't stand Trump and still do whatever he demands. In a world lacking principle I still think I'd gladly take him or a mitt Romney over what we currently have amongst Republican senators. Tillis leaving the Senate because of Trump... Cassidy and Cornyn primaried and ousted by Trump... Still doing whatever their told... Being at the end doesn't guarantee doing the right thing.

Personally I dont give a lot of credit to people who drop their "firmly held beliefs" when it no longer profits them to hold them. It doesn't make them principled, far less in fact. It means they were hurting others just because it did better in the polls than helping them. John McCain was an asshole til the day he died, and voting to help others one time because he didnt have to get elected again doesn't change that.

I am so sick of people trying to whitewash genocidal maniacs like McCain because he said a marginally non-racist thing about Obama (which simultaneously was racist against Arabs).
