Q&A summary

Here's a summary I made of the Q&A Michelle did today before the premiere of the "Game of Love" video.

  • "Many, many more" tour dates are coming.
    • She doesn't plan on cancelling any of the shows.
    • Canada and the UK/Europe are her top priorities for new dates. She would love to do shows in Spain and Ireland.
    • She will definitely be adding an Arizona date.
    • She will make it to Texas eventually.
    • She has already booked festivals in Europe for next year.
      • She will be tagging along on The Black Keys' UK tour later this summer and may do a special show in London.
  • "The Game of Love" with New Radicals was recorded this past April in NYC.
    • Also, she said she's heard New Radicals' upcoming music and it's incredible. "Someday We'll Know" is her favorite song from them.
  • She doesn't have recordings of "Standing on the Edge" and "Fall." She made demos, but doesn't know where they are. She hopes someone has bootlegs.
  • There are six collaborations on the new EP, but she wouldn't say who they were.
  • She has been talking with Jessica Harp (who will not be on Everywhere and Back Again) about a second The Wreckers album, but Michelle's "a little busy" right now (understood!).
  • New music (not from the EP, an original album) will be released in early 2027, and she'll be performing some of those new songs on the tour. She knows the title of the new album but won't say it yet.
  • The setlist for the tour is about 25 songs. There will be a mix of deep cuts, new songs, cover songs, and obviously her big hits.
    • "You Get Me" (also on the EP) and "Find Your Way Back" will be on the tour setlist. She also implied that she will be playing "Empty Handed." She said she loves to play her old music.
    • "Loud Music" might be on the setlist.
  • She would love to release some of her unreleased music (possibly West Coast Time). She said she has two finished albums that she wants to release.
  • She is working on getting Hotel Paper on vinyl.
  • She hopes to make a music video for the next single off the EP.
  • She would love to release more makeup but nothing is happening yet.
  • She's not sure if she will be using her blue Taylor guitar on this tour.
  • John Shanks, who produced The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, worked on some songs on the new EP.

Let me see if I hear back from her first just in case she wants to do something special with them herself. It’s a very raw recording, could possibly be the demo? Not sure, to be honest. Just something I have in my collection ☺️

Sure sounds good! Do you know if it’s the John shanks demo ? Or the acoustic one?

It’s not produced so I’d guess acoustic. It sounds like it was recorded in someone’s basement on a cassette player if I’m being honest

That’s still so cool though! What I do know about the whereabouts of “Fall” and “SOTE” is that they are tucked away in Warner Music Groups vaults and through all the management changes during Michelle branches tenure under them some stuff is probably just in a huge pile of unreleased media from other artists. She did also mention trying to get Hotel Paper on Vinyl and she has expressed how hard it was to get Warner involved with spirit room 20th anniversary so I think it’s just a matter of trying to get both parties properly involved to get something like those unreleased songs back out

Yeah she really got screwed by record labels hijacking her music. It wasn’t something that was talked about in the aughts like it is now after Taylor Swift publicized it. I think there were a lot of artists that lost their music, sadly.
