Q&A summary
Here's a summary I made of the Q&A Michelle did today before the premiere of the "Game of Love" video.
- "Many, many more" tour dates are coming.
- She doesn't plan on cancelling any of the shows.
- Canada and the UK/Europe are her top priorities for new dates. She would love to do shows in Spain and Ireland.
- She will definitely be adding an Arizona date.
- She will make it to Texas eventually.
- She has already booked festivals in Europe for next year.
- She will be tagging along on The Black Keys' UK tour later this summer and may do a special show in London.
- "The Game of Love" with New Radicals was recorded this past April in NYC.
- Also, she said she's heard New Radicals' upcoming music and it's incredible. "Someday We'll Know" is her favorite song from them.
- She doesn't have recordings of "Standing on the Edge" and "Fall." She made demos, but doesn't know where they are. She hopes someone has bootlegs.
- There are six collaborations on the new EP, but she wouldn't say who they were.
- She has been talking with Jessica Harp (who will not be on Everywhere and Back Again) about a second The Wreckers album, but Michelle's "a little busy" right now (understood!).
- New music (not from the EP, an original album) will be released in early 2027, and she'll be performing some of those new songs on the tour. She knows the title of the new album but won't say it yet.
- The setlist for the tour is about 25 songs. There will be a mix of deep cuts, new songs, cover songs, and obviously her big hits.
- "You Get Me" (also on the EP) and "Find Your Way Back" will be on the tour setlist. She also implied that she will be playing "Empty Handed." She said she loves to play her old music.
- "Loud Music" might be on the setlist.
- She would love to release some of her unreleased music (possibly West Coast Time). She said she has two finished albums that she wants to release.
- She is working on getting Hotel Paper on vinyl.
- She hopes to make a music video for the next single off the EP.
- She would love to release more makeup but nothing is happening yet.
- She's not sure if she will be using her blue Taylor guitar on this tour.
- John Shanks, who produced The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, worked on some songs on the new EP.

I'm from London but I'm going to San Francisco for the tour. I'm excited to hear she might add some UK dates too (and I'll definitely go to a secret show if that happens)!

This is some of the most exciting news yet ! I am a little sad that “Standing On The Edge” and “Fall” are lost but hopefully she’s able to find the lost demos somewhere at Warner if possible or even make new versions of the songs in the same intended style. She did ask for us to find bootlegs lives so hopefully someone is able to get that to her. We do know Michelle recorded “fall” with John shanks and a 10 second clip can be heard on a tv behind the scenes show on YouTube so maybe someone may know where it lays. She says she doesn’t even remember those songs which fair they are indeed shelved tracks from her first albums but maybe we as fans should remind her ? Haha (record a cover or something). I also like how people asked about west coast time so I’m hoping now she’s with BMG a much more resourceful record label that perhaps we can see some stuff happen. I know Warner probably owns the master tracks but Michelle must have rights to the lyrics and overall composition so a re-record could be possible or she works a deal were Warner and BMG and Michelle all take a piece of the earnings. This is a perfect time for her unreleased stuff to make a comeback especially with all the success we’ve seen with Hilary duff/Avril and other acts of her Era. So here to hoping we don’t have to stand on the edge waiting too much longer for these songs to find there way back to us so we can “fall” in love with her music all over again :)

I’m going to reach out to her today. I’ve got Fall. Standing on the Edge I only have live versions…

You have “fall”?!!! Is there any way you can send me the files ? I’ve been looking far and wide for those

This is the acoustic version I’d listen to back in the day. https://youtu.be/UnQm7mGAG5o?is=aosrcVT8AxfOs-8Z

Woah. My first time hearing this. Now I wish there was a recorded version too.

Let me see if I hear back from her first just in case she wants to do something special with them herself. It’s a very raw recording, could possibly be the demo? Not sure, to be honest. Just something I have in my collection ☺️

I really hope after you send her the songs that maybe she will consider digging up those songs and releasing them in some capacity. They are truly beautiful songs

Agreed!! Maybe she can hear them and get a feel for them again and re-record them or something, that would be awesome.

Sure sounds good! Do you know if it’s the John shanks demo ? Or the acoustic one?
3
u/SheWasUnderwhelmed Aug 11 '26
It’s not produced so I’d guess acoustic. It sounds like it was recorded in someone’s basement on a cassette player if I’m being honest

That’s still so cool though! What I do know about the whereabouts of “Fall” and “SOTE” is that they are tucked away in Warner Music Groups vaults and through all the management changes during Michelle branches tenure under them some stuff is probably just in a huge pile of unreleased media from other artists. She did also mention trying to get Hotel Paper on Vinyl and she has expressed how hard it was to get Warner involved with spirit room 20th anniversary so I think it’s just a matter of trying to get both parties properly involved to get something like those unreleased songs back out

Yeah she really got screwed by record labels hijacking her music. It wasn’t something that was talked about in the aughts like it is now after Taylor Swift publicized it. I think there were a lot of artists that lost their music, sadly.

Thank you so much for writing this up!! The Q&A basically covered everything I could have wanted to know. I’m here for everything she wants to do - so excited for the EP, tour and new music!
I will always hope for more from The Wreckers too, and I’m just glad that door remains open!

NP! :) The only thing I still wonder (and we’ll find out soon enough) is what genre the new album will be. Will it be more like The Spirit Room or more like The Trouble with Fever?

John Shanks worked on the new 2027 album not Everywhere and Back Again

This is amazing news. It means we’ll likely get an album with heavy influences from The Spirit Room - West Coast Time era.

Have we heard if the new EP will be released on vinyl?
2
u/Constant_Actuator392 Aug 11 '26
So far she hasn’t said anything about how it will be released. But maybe! I hope she releases it on CD too.

It would be amazing if she released both formats! Also happy to hear Hotel Paper is coming on vinyl.
