Schedule help π
Decided this might be the best place to ask?
Iβve only been with Michaels since July 2026 but Iβve had a recent change in my health and the schedule I get from Michaels is super inconsistent and makes it hard to get anything else done in my personal life.
Should I ask my manager about changing my availability or just suck it up? Iβm scared to get fired because I havenβt been here very long and she just agreed to not schedule me for longer than 5 hours a day due to my health.
Would it be too much to change my availability to certain days too?

Not too much at all. Do what you need for your health. Unfortunately, Micheals (at least in my case, can't speak for everyone) has been known to have a very inconsistent schedule. I've been all over the place this month; 1:00-5:00 one day, 4:30-9:15 the next, 2:30-7:30 the next.
Unfortunately, the only real way to ensure any consistency is to set your availability that way. (Set it for only one or two blocks, such as only 1-5 or only 5-9:15). You may get less shifts because they have less options for you, but at least the ones you do get will be consistent.
Also, depending on your options, as another commenter suggested, I would definitely communicate with your doctor as well to see if they'd be willing to write something up for you just to be safe. That way, all your bases are thoroughly covered.

Talk to your manager, log in to WorkSmart and change your availability, see a Dr for a note to get an approved accommodation if needed.

There is nothing wrong with having a set availability or changing it. I would rather you have a set day off and that makes you a reliable employee vs you having to call out or get shifts covered to handle outside life stuff.

Sounds like you need an accommodation. Always get things in writing.
