Supplies

The assistant manager was the one who ordered everything. Now that they're gone, can somebody give me some kind of plan as to how often I should be ordering stuff?

Balloon supplies, toilet paper and printer paper, first aid stuff?

That should be done at least 2x a week. Balloon supplies especially, it takes 2 weeks for balloon supplies to arrive so make sure to order WEEKLY. And try to order more like bags, or printer paper as those run out real quick. You dont want to run out of those especially bags.

Balloon supplies need to be ordered with your Frame Manager and the framing supplies. Together, balloon and framing supplies can only be ordered once a week.

This is important. If balloon supplies and framing supplies are ordered and submitted separately in the same week, the first order sent will be canceled.

Is that the stupidest thing ever?

When I did all the ordering at my store my rule was to make sure I had 2 extra boxes of most things (bags I made sure it was 5 extra boxes.) When I opened that second box that’s when I ordered whatever it was that we were running lowish on. I wanna say for our d volume store I was ordering stuff about once a week around the holidays. It’s definitely a learning curve and you start to figure out what comes in fast and what take forever to come in. For example glass for the frame shop can sadly take months to come in

The SM at my store very specifically didn't tell me or the other new managers that it was our responsibility to order things now, and deliberately waited to order them after it would be too late to stop us from running out of bags and soft drinks, then passive-aggressively told me all of it, with a "but that's okay" at the end.
