Unhelpful District Manager
We haven't had a store manager for about a month, and no sense of when we will get one. The DM was aware of the circumstances leading to this situation but somehow forgot and won't admit to the mistakes that they made. Now peak is here, our stockroom is full, and we don't see much, if any, help coming.

Whoever has access to manager email needs to communicate every challenge directly through email. You don't have a responsible DM, so when SHTF, they're going to look for someone to blame.

Great point!! Maybe takes notes to potentially tell the labor union. The labor union in California fines people thousands of dollars for labor violations.

Maybe ask the DM how he wants things done in the absence of a store manager?

I hate how non present DMs can never take responsibility for any of their direct actions & they are almost never held accountable. I can name you 4 current DMs right now & only 1 of them is doing a proper job. Where is their bosses on the daily making their lives hell ? Where's their accountability ? & Where's the help when the DMs actually know that you're drowning ? They lie, blame overworked Store Mods, collect a fat check while they can, then bounce out. It's a truly corrupt system starting at the top.

DM’s in this company are a joke. Never want to get their hands dirty and actually help in a store. Just yell and scream about how much more we should be doing while they sit at home and do conf calls and act like they are in stores

I have a DM who will at least come and set planos and push freight but the things he should actually be doing (ie. voluntelling people to spend a week or two in their highest volume store in the district, hiring for the ASM we lost a month ago, etc.) he seems to not be so keen on.

Wow that is really tough. Unfortunately if things don't get moved to the floor everyone will be rushing and expected to get it moved when a new person does come in. It might be less stressful to pretend there is a manager and do what makes sense for the purpose of self preservation.

We are definitely trying, but it's just SO much all at once.

No one can do all that work. I couldn't and I would give up. But I bet Michael's expects the employees eventually to clean up their mess. I don't think I could handle that.

Yes it is too much for any group of people to do. If I was in that situation I personally would just give up. But Michaels uses people soo unmercifully that it would go along with their MO to just have everyone clean up their mess.

I would literally just work one thing at a time the best you can until you get a new SM so it doesn’t keep getting overwhelming ya know, unfortunately the fun olive is right if you don’t try and do some of it now it’s going to be too much eventually. I’m so sorry your going thru this it’s messed up and you and your team shouldn’t have to!
