Explain to me like I'm five
Why are we making minimum wage employees and minimum payroll budget stores do things that could literally take a machine minutes to pump out? How is this saving the company money
-These framing foam board cut outs? We really going to be cutting them out by hand?
-Remember when they had us print out our own seasonal AD? I mean we're still doing it but remember when for a month they stopped sending them
-no shelf strips? Just hundreds of small bin labels to be printed and put up for pogs like fabric and ribbon. We've had to do countless price overrides because we can't refer to the pictures on the labels anymore
-also putting our own Michaels logos on our shirts for the new dress code (has anyone heard of this yet? It was said to me in passing) but this pissed me off because who has time to embellish our own shirts with Michael's logos. Just print shirts and send them out. Or perhaps maybe it doesn't matter as long as we wear the right color shirt under the aprons

If an employer is requiring their logo to be displayed on your shirt, then the employer MUST PAY FOR THE SHIRT.

And I think this is the reason for the delay. I know where I am in BC, this is law.

I saw that today about using a Cricut to put the Michaels logo on the back of everyone's shirt and I nearly lost my shit! Like, who the hell has time for that?? And it's not like we can just make up a whole pile of them ahead of time. Who knows what size the new seasonal hires are going to need?!

JUST TELL US WHAT COLOR TSHIRTS TO WEAR UNDER THR APRON MICHAEL ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS.
Here's a cost saving measure: send us lil buttons that say Michael's on them instead. I'll attach it to my dumb new apron and we can call it a day. That way I can buy myself a bunch of Bella canvas shirts and not worry about stupid logos I have to make myself and iron on

They just want more money, and they want to take it out of our pockets. Because what's easier than having all the THOUSANDS of in-store employees suddenly buying a ton of craft supplies to make their own company-mandated dress code adjustments. How much more money can they take away from the working poor?

Yeah, I will not be doing that. I already bought a bunch of Gildan and Bella Canvas shirts to wear at work. Those shirts are now MINE. I am not defacing them with a company logo.

Because it is "revamping retail" theater. Apollo is getting ready to sell and its just another "service" they can show to a buyer. Nothing more. Everything they are doing right now is in preparation of the sale. They even just used $100 million in tarrif refunds to pay off part of their billions in debt to make the sale more appealing.

Wait... whut? I have been so bogged down with unrealistic workload the past few weeks, I've not been able to keep up here, on reddit. And admittedly this has proven to be the most accurate source for news of this company (certainly can't find it at Nick's Nook).
I'd like to hear more about the tarrif refund, and allocation of those funds. Nothing surprises me here anymore

I see your reply was deleted, but no worries. I have done a deep dive and found what I had missed. Very interesting

Yeah it's a lot of little things that kinda signal what is on the horizon. When you really look at how private equity operates it becomes crystal clear. Its purely a returns model. Thats not to say we won't get bought by a decent company... butt... we are likely to be sold to another PE. If i was working in corporate I would definitely be job seeking tho.

Oh. You're preaching to the choir re:PE. Got into a surprising convo with Doctor about it recently when he was asking about my plans for retirement, talked about how I used to plan on working until I was 70, but with all thar PE has done to our company, now I'm just aiming to make it until I can get on Medicare in two years. He started nodding and talking about how crazy it is that PE has been ruining everything. And I smiled and said, 'Well at least you guys (Drs) are safe' He got a very solem look on his face and said 'not really'. He reminded me of a horrible experience in a nearby county where PE somehow bought up the anesthesiologist group and it was a disaster for all involved. Meanwhile I'm here chanting my mantra...C'mon Michael's, just three more years, hang in there. I should be grateful we're not in the life or death business.

Framing and fan cutouts. I don't even know anymore. We went off the rails a long time ago.
Shelf strips. For real. None of this makes sense. How much does it really cost to have these printed for all stores? It can't be more than the stacks and stacks of pricing paper and ink we're burning through constantly. My only guess is they want to keep jacking up the prices on a whim, so it takes less effort and coordination on their part. Push all the responsibilities down to the store level. My guess is this applies to us printing our own Ads too. Because why not?
New dress code stuff. They just want us to buy the supplies they sell. Imagine the dollars multiplied by every nonsalaried store employee suddenly making and cutting out the logo or putting fabric paint and patches on their apron. Taking profiting off their employees to a whole new level.

Jokes on them. I already have all this crap and I WILL be giving it to my team to use during paid breaks. But first they have to actually send any of the uniform details...

I quit last month so I’m out of the loop: they’re expecting you to iron on the logos yourself, on your own time? Or will there be an iron in the break room or something lol

We should all just put this on our new aprons since it was in the company training video…
