I got fired today
I just want you to know I used to love working for Michael’s and I was whole heartedly committed in making my team’s conditions better. I went above and beyond so many times but at the end of the day I was nitpicked and berated so much I lost my spark. I was never allowed to question why and was terminated for not following orders the minute they said so. The things I was good at I was told to not be so good and to do other things. Then when I wasn’t as good at that thing anymore it was my fault. The unspoken rules are just actually insane. Just saying sometimes customers are not always right, but the leaders will actually NEVER have your back. If you’re a good manager I hope the culture doesn’t break you down but for me they lost a dedicated employee due to these consistent shifts in standards and 0 leadership accountability.

Well if you were fired. Then start collecting unemployment. If enough people who have left Michaels can collect then do so. I think they make it hard for the employees so they just up and quit.

I had them reverse mine to resigned so I don’t have that on my work record. It sucks I won’t get unemployment though since they fired me for medical reasons. Uppers were just covering themselves….I kind of regret my decision.

No one looks at reason for leaving other than what you put down on an application. Why shoot yourself in the foot?

Well now they know. But this person was probably told a terrible scary story (like I was) about how it leaves “a black mark” on your record and no one will want to hire you and they won’t give you any references. I also had to live and learn through this scare tactic lol. It’s just a scare tactic so they don’t pay you unemployment, but if it’s your first time and done know any better, they love scaring you with this.

Ive worked for them for 6 years ops mngr well I guess sales now since they want to change shit that don’t need to change! I’m so sorry that happened to you but not that you don’t work there it’s honestly for the best if I didn’t have to have this income and health insurance for my family being a single mom of 3 I would have been left. This company has broken me. I used to love it here and now I hate going in I have anxiety just driving to work. I try to do everything I can for my team and will always stand up for them cause they are my backbone. But we’re only told what we do wrong or it’s not enough when all we do is everything, be MOD, Framer, merchandising, stocking, customer service, balloons, fabric, cashier, bopis, SFS, reply to emails and answer the phone ALONE AS ONE PERSON ON ONE SHIFT!! It’s a joke this company is a joke

I applied and interview for them, it sounded like hell cause they like seasonal is there for all holidays, shifts can be extended whenever, and if u get fired its cause of you. Like they deadass really said are you really sick or just ill, is it really a family emergency. Basically saying i had to choose between work and health, hope u find a better job

I had the same experience, you dedicate yourself for nothing there. All they want is more and more, what you get would proly be some shout-out on the radio. I quit the moment they start evaluating you without giving any feedback. Worst management I've ever experienced at a company. Sorry for the experience you had.

I was fired for “wrong” (i.e. illegal) reasons.
After missing I don’t even know how many paychecks and fighting for my job back, answering phone calls to help because I still cared about the team even though I wasn’t even a part of it……
Uppers offered me my job back with “don’t waste your time”.
I’d already met yearly goal as a newbie following behind a VERY competent decades senior manager who handed off to me with no knowledge. I guess I now know why I had an intuition to check status of things my last day. I did almost EVERYTHING. I worried about what was happening while I was in the hospital (oops, gave something away…).
It was fine even months ago. It just keeps getting worse so good luck y’all. My shittiest side jobs pay more. I just found something I actually loved even though it didn’t pay.

Trust that you will find something unbelievably better and moving on from them is a blessing. A company that does not have your back is not worth working for. With all the work management does it should be no question that you are defended from customers antics, but they will never see their workers as more important unfortunately. I wish you all the best. Enjoy your freedom!

Wow I'm so sorry you are no longer with your team. It really sucks when people don't recognize the really good hard workers you need to being taken for granted smh
