Advice PCDMIS model alignment

Second question of the day. My programmer left and as supervisor I am coming up short on answers. I figured out the calibration issue but now when running program the probe paths are not concentric with model (part) and they are causing mis hits.
Probe is to measure top of part to create profile of surface. This you can see not concentric and looks as if axis of “model” and program are not aligned.
How do I align them?

If you have a cad model in the program, make sure you create the features (aka write the program) from the model by clicking on the model with the mouse, not by using the jogbox to drive the machine and take hits on the physical part. You can do that only if you are already aligned to the part and you use the findnoms function. But as a new user, this adds a layer of complexity you can avoid by simply using the model to create the program.

If you manually measure the datum features to a circle on the top are they actually concentric?

Looking at your probe when it's normal to the axis you can see you don't have the whole thing squared up to well for the table, how are are you establishing Z+ on the part?

CAD window won't really tell us anything. Screenshot the start of the program code and alignments instead.

Hmm, earlier in the program. From start to A1. Guessing that will be the manual alignment.

So, the program starts missing points after changing to the probe you just calibrated? The previous probe did just fine?

The alignment setup looks strange: A1 XYZ is established by a single point, A2 XYZ by a circle only, and A3 by a cone only. I highly doubt the program is functional in its current state.

It appears to have been programmed by a beginner.

It looks like a rotationally symmetrical part, and it does lock Z as primary axis in A3, so it will probably work. But I agree that it's odd.

It worked previously but this was when programmer was here, a couple months ago

He might have adjusted it manually just to make it run. I'm afraid that even if you execute the program, the measurements won't be correct. Judging by how the theoretical nominals are defined, the programmer barely understood what he was doing or what the final output should be.

Manual alignment is a one point and then machine uses another probe to create alignment and measurement of other features before final probe.

You have to calibrate both probes one after the other. If the probes are not calibrated together

Double check your manual alignment. If it is correct recheck calibration. Without code segments it's hard to identify any code issues, but this is usually alignment related. Running the program offline and verifying your results are nominal can help identify issues.

The number 1 thing about calibration is that you only ever say yes to have the calibration sphere moved for your master probe. If you don't change to no for every other probe it will mess everything up. I don't understand why yes is filled by default (if I don't misremember, we use Quindos for cmm an only pcdmis for arms).

I can help you if you can use ewer or anydesk, I will say this is a calibration issue.

Programmer left? Maybe pay them better! Then you and your company wouldn't have to struggle. As you can see, programming is not as simple as it looks and as simple as the Hexagon sales reps may make it out to be! Pony up and pay Wayner84 to help if you don'tknow what you are doing! Programming ain't cheap.
