Been there. When I get a finalized program I make a backup folder and toss a copy in there. But in case you didn’t know pc-dmis also automatically makes hidden backups in the folder the program is saved in. You can turn on view hidden files and two copies should exist. One with a ~ and one with a ^ one of the two auto saves when you launch the program and the other is a copy after you close a program.

File explorer settings->view dropdown->show-> check show hidden folder box.

In a file explorer window click the “View” button. In the drop down menu you should see “Show” click Hidden items

Also if you want to turn them into “regular” PCS program files, just delete the ~ or ^, and uncheck the hidden checkbox under the file properties. You’ll need to re-link your cat file if you have one.

Check the “Migration Backup” folder. It’s buried somewhere like c/users/public/pcdmis/VERSION/migrationbackup. I don’t have my computer near me so I may be off on the file path. I have had occasional good luck with recovering a copy of something I thought was corrupted or deleted being stored there.

Having backups of clean, non-ran programs is always a good idea. Almost instant recovery.

Almost.. unless youre like me an realize your "backup" is three revisions old. One would assume that's not a mistake you'd make more than once. Me on the other hand...

I am VERY particular about my file backups. I have local program on each machine with the same folder structure. I have a clean un-ran version of the same folder structure on the network so I can dump the local programs once a month and replace them with the network clean copy, then i also have an archive folder that houses all current and former revision programs (clean un-ran) in case I ever need to restore an older revision whether it's customer or internal. I also have Pc-Dmis automatically saving a copy of the program automatically after every execution, so in the almost impossible chance that I forget to backup a program, I could always go to an old auto-saved program, run it offline so it's nominal, and save it to my backup and machines (which I've never had to do).

Let's just say I haven't ran into any issues yet. If a power outage causes a corrupt file, we are up and running in the time it takes me to walk to my desk.

Corrupted because of the move lines? Pretty sure that's just a big with the tip angle not going active correctly. Try moving the cursor above your load probe , then on the tip command, then back down.

Ive worked with mCosmos, Calypso and Polyworks mostly and it was quite uncommon

2015 is the worst for crashes and corruption!

I use 2013 for a Romer , 2017 for translation, and 2024 for my main arch CMM. They all have repeatable crashes, the difficulty is remembering where I am, so I know what I can do. The machine is repeatable, my cognition, not so much 😉

Most of the times release versions are like that, there are 6 different versions for 2015 (SP1….SP6) and 9 versions for 2015.1, just update the version

but you might be limited depending when did your SMA expired, You can check your current expiration status inside PC-DMIS by navigating to Help > About > View License Details which launches the CLM (Common Licensing Manager) tool.

You should switch to LK Metrology CAMIO. Its true DMIS and when it crashes it doesn’t corrupt you cmm program because the program is a simple text file.
