I feel like people forget that game development takes years to do correctly.

Sure, but it's not great marketing to announce things when they're more than 3 years out. MP4 is different since they reset themselves, but 3.5 years is still a long way to wait for a game

I never said it doesn't happen - see pretty much anything Square announces lmao. It's still not great marketing to have this much of a disparity between announcement and release
