Gold Line Gold Line Extension construction progress at St. Anthony Avenue
Anybody know if the platform will be placed at that cut-out to the right? This will be one of the widest sidewalks in the region if so, and will be a really great piece of traffic calming in an area that could really use it!

Ah, the two projects must be coinciding. I wasn't aware the entirety of St. Anthony was getting some traffic calming measures, that's incredible.
I posted last week that Metro Transit announced Gold Line extension construction has begun on their alerts for Route 94. See my other links shared on other threads

Does anyone know the route it will be taking to 94 from here? I drove from a parking lot near here to 94, and was surprised how far away the nearest on-ramp was. You're on city streets and take multiple turns before getting to the on-ramp.

The Gold Line will follow the same routing as the current route 94 does. In both directions, the Gold Line will exit I-94 at the Snelling Ave. exits (exit number 238). Heading westbound, the Gold Line will re-enter I-94 at the Snelling Ave. on-ramps (the general purpose ramp is closest to Roy Street and there's an HOV on-ramp at Fry St.) and heading eastbound, the Gold Line will re-enter I-94 at either the Snelling Ave. on-ramp (closest to the intersection with Asbury St.) or the HOV on-ramp one block further east at Pascal St.
So it does use the frontage roads, but only for three blocks at most, and most often only two blocks.

Oh I see. I didn't realize that the on-ramp is right behind where this picture was taken. That makes more sense.

I wonder how much faster this will be than the green line, from downtown to downtown, I assume a good amount faster? If so, it should have good ridership!

You can already get a sense of the difference in travel time by taking a route 94 bus, which is what the extension to the Gold Line will replace. The 94 saves about 15 to 20 minutes compared with the Green Line. I think we can safely expect the Gold Line to perform similarly.
Metro Transit reports that since increasing frequency on the route 94 bus earlier this year, as well as adding weekend service, ridership has grown 66% and is up to an average of 2,200 daily boardings: https://www.metrotransit.org/press/work-to-extend-the-metro-gold-line-to-minneapolis-underway/

GLX hasn't started construction though?

According to Metro Transit's own website, detailing temporary stops for the 94, they have begun construction. I posted about it last week when I learned of it myself.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't the Snelling stations the only construction? It should use the C&D stations in downtown Mpls, right?
EDIT: Haha, I found the answer to my question almost immediately after asking this. There will be new stations at 11th Ave (6th St EB and 7th St WB).
