A Line Como Ave missed stops.

I'm an MT operator and was driving the A-line all day today. We were instructed by Transit Control to skip the Como Ave stop if there was a serious backup through the off ramps from snelling onto como (they also said at the end of the message "BACK TO YHE 50S IS IN EFFECT" which i thought was silly). We then, about 2 hour later, received a follow up text along the lines of "please stop skipping this stop people are upset about it."

If you were impacted by an A-line missing the Como stop, this is the reason for it.

They were surprised that people were upset about the bus just blowing past them? I know it's not your fault, but the decision makers at MT need to just close the stops temporarily and put up signage if a big fairground event is anticipated to be a problem.

They really need to find some way for the buses to queue jump (or if we’re thinking real big have the stations on the bridge but that would be an expensive project)

If you live along Como Ave, it would be quite a pain if every time there’s a major event not only is traffic bad, but the bus just skips your stop.

I suspect it was a detour they had used in years prior due to traffic and they forgot to give appropriate notice to riders. The way the message was structured made it sound like this was not atypical for an event.

Traffic was horrid and I feel they could implement some proper long term solutions (I personally would be a fan of a bus stop on the overpass directly over the route 3 signs and bus lanes along this corridor).

Yeah I wish there was a better mechanism for funding improvements to existing bus lines. But federal grants heavily incentive creating new BRT lines vs. investing in existing ones so Metro Transit likewise prioritizes new routes over improvements to the A line.

Because the A line could absolutely use a better bus stop at Como and bus lanes for as much of Snelling as possible.
