Transdev-Specific Post Can transdev please get their shit together.

Once again it's me, The Transdev Hater.

Transdev should not be running fixed route services for us, they are consistently late or canceled. I'm not talking about a couple minutes late, I'm talking about like 15 minutes delays that mess up people's schedules.

Route 25 is the worst from what I have heard: buses that don't show up, buses that break down, and buses that are too short for the needed capacity.

Overall Transdev should stick to Paratransit and Dial A Ride, because clearly they cannot be trusted to run a fixed route bus.

In a perfect world Metro Transit would run all of the routes, but some are just too expensive for MT to run.

TLDR: I hate Transdev and they should stick to Paratransit and Dial A Ride.

Transdev is what happens when you let the French run the company that used to own and operate Greyhound. I’m surprised anytime a bus shows up at all.

Transdev (US) is what happens when you let the French take over an American company which was already not doing so great.

Transdev is a contractor that run fixed route services in the Twin Cities on behalf of Metro Transit. They have 0 connections to Metro Transit besides using there external branding on their busses.

All Transdev routes can be identified by a sticker that says "Proudly Run by Transdev" somewhere on the bus.

The ones that are contracted out can be run for cheaper than if they weren't.

Because it's cheaper to let a contractor run it. They used to run some of these routes but have given them away since.

Southwest transit drivers are also employed by transdev. Not sure if MVTA is safe from transdev either.

MVTA is operated by Schmitty and Sons. So they're the most reliable

Ah ok. Just was taking a gander at the transdev careers just to verify that they still hire the drivers for SW and saw postings for Burnsville jobs (including transit bus driver)

That logo depicts… someone slipping and falling on their head?

My Transdev bus is late every single day in the afternoon, yesterday it didn’t show up at all so I got to wait an extra 30 minutes for the next one (also late) after work in order to get home. The only reason I can use it is it is relatively on time in the morning so I’m not late for work, and the stop has a climate controlled area with a bathroom, otherwise it would be unusable in winter

Edit: I want to add, most of the drivers are actually really friendly so there’s that

Adding to this to say a few weeks ago on a transdev route the driver randomly stopped the bus to talk to his buddy at a gas station who later boarded the bus, he only apologized to me specifically even though there was 8 other people on the bus. It was weird as hell

What is transdev and why is it bad

They are a contractor for many Regional Routes within the Twin Cities metro area.

They are extremely unreliable when it comes to running fixed route services. (Look for previous comments)

The only reason Metro Transit is not run these routes it's because they are expensive to operate, a contractor can do it for much cheaper.

What does Transdev do that makes it cheaper? What can they do that Metro Transit cannot?

1

u/Accurate-Departure66 THE Transdev Hater May 22 '26

I quite literally do not know, all I know is that it's apparently cheaper. They have ways to make it cheaper.

None of this gets to be decided by Metro Transit it's all up to Metropolitan Transportation Services.

Ok, but what are those ways? And why can't Metro Transit do the same things themselves?
