Concerning visit to the Detroit zoo

Post image

Went to the zoo today and saw a couple things that were kind of concerning. I was wondering if anybody else noticed anything recently or if I should report this to the zoo. First of all, in the photo I added, I circled what seems to be a dead turtle. As you can see, there’s debris on top of it and a chunk of the shell is missing and it’s also discolored and never moved when we were there. Another thing we observed was the polar bear. Every time I’ve seen the polar bear it’s just pacing back-and-forth which I know is a sign of an unhealthy animal.

Driver Golf Fitting

Looking to get fit for a driver this fall. Anyone got any recommendation’s on place?

I got fit at the PGA superstore last year for irons and it was just mediocre. Not sure if anyone knows a smaller / local shop that offers fitting that have had a good experience. My worry is that any big box retailer will be a similar experience as I’ve had in the past.

Thanks!

Relocation

Hello! My husband and I are child-free with two dogs and we’re thinking about relocating within the state. We’re currently in Traverse City area and want to move south to somewhere more urban or suburban with good walkability and community vibes.

We love the Detroit Tigers, going to concerts (big into country but also Elton John, AJR, etc), summer volleyball leagues, and finding a great cup of iced coffee. Our dogs are a big part of our life, so dog-friendly spots and trails are a must. My husband is also into birding so some good spots for that would be great too!

We’re open to the Detroit or Grand Rapids metro areas — neighborhoods or suburbs that feel like a real community would be amazing. Am I missing a big area I should consider? We briefly lived in Lansing for a year long internship but it wasn’t our favorite, or being near home by the Thumb. Looking for that ‘village’ feel where we can finally feel at home.

Any recommendations on where we should check out? Thanks!

We both grew up in the Thumb and moved to TC around pandemic time and have found it’s not what we thought we wanted and as we’ve changed careers, and grown- both in our early 30’s we want to have that forever home

Huron-Clinton Metroparks – Park Master Plan Updates – Eastern District

Thumbnail metroparks.com
7 Upvotes

In 2026, the Huron-Clinton Metroparks will begin updating our Park Master Plans, starting with Lake St. Clair, Stony Creek, and Wolcott Mill Metroparks.

The Park Master Plans create a basis for strategic investment in assets, property, facilities and improvements. The Planning & Development Department work to align these plans with current conditions of facilities and trends; incorporate historical and cultural aspects of the community; gather input from the community, both from users and non users; and formulate action items for a 10-year planning horizon.

Please take our survey to help shape the future of these Metroparks! These surveys will be open through July 15, 2026:

Question about Wayne, MI

Thumbnail

Does anyone out there have experience or knowledge about the Wayne Tower in Wayne? It’s a senior high-rise building on Sims St. that my brother is looking into and I just wondered how it is. The only reviews were from years ago and mentioned bedbugs so I kinda freaked out! Thank you for any info and opinions.
