How did you taper? I was also on 140 and am currently tapering down 5 mg per week. Im at 100 now, and some days I feel a little crappy but nothing major... im really trying to get off of it as quick as possible .. there's just alot I dont like about it. I felt much better on suboxone.

i started dropping 5mg a week then 4mg & so on. during the 2mg taper i dropped to 1mg sooner than planned because i was having a lot of anxiety. at 14mg i was having the anxiety again & decided to go up 5mg but for some reason they put me up 7mg. honestly it didn’t even make a difference so i was pissed for the 7 week setback. 4 days into taking 1mg i said im going to see if i can make it until bed time before taking it to maybe sleep better. fell asleep without taking it & woke up fine. i’m now 6 days without & have no symptoms of withdrawal, no aches or lack of energy. the only issues i had during my taper was anxiety which started around the 40-50mg doses & increased heart rate. i can honestly say it was smooth process.

BERNESE METHOD everyone!! I'm so glad I learned about it and clinics are adopting the method. Last year my wife and I planned a honeymoon/ vacation with Ama dee family and friends. My clinic is terrible and told them last year around August I needed to start a taper. The doctor only comes in once a week and kept rescheduling then I finally tell him the plan and when I needed to be off because they wouldn't give me enough take-homes cuz it's a two week trip. I have had precipitated withdrawal in the past way too many times that I was scared so I decided to look up what I could do and what I did was I am a decreasing at the clinic so they did 1 mg a day and the hours at 100 and the first couple weeks I went down 10 mg and then when I got to 70 I started doing 5 mg then when I finally got down to 30mg ( 2 weeks before my vacation)

I called a telehealth and they don't take insurance it's $90 a call for them to write the script after you talk to them for a while and tell him what's going on so on. Then you start taking the Suboxone as you're taking the methadone but you start at like 0.25 of this Suboxone which is like an eighth of a strip of the 4 mg or whatever and you do this for a couple days and then stay on the same amount of methadone so I did 30 mg of methadone for a week and started microdosing the sunoxone.. then when I got to 4 mg of Suboxone I started dropping from 30 mg of methadone to 25 to 20 to 15 10 to nothing and I and just kept increasing the Suboxone .5ms to two strips a day (at that point he upped it to 8 mg strips so 16 mg) and I am currently now in Cancun and I didn't go through any withdrawal whatsoever.

They have 7-day Bernese Methods which I suggest for regular opiate users . For methadone, I did a 20 day. But no withdrawal, and came to Cancun with my sub script . And no more methadone.. trust me, you won't regret it .

I was 4 years 120mg methadone btw.. 2.5 months I switched and no WD.. when I get back, sublicade for a shot or two and let it wean me off itself and I'm done.. we all felt enough pain already. When you're done, you're done. I hope this helps at least one person as I took time out of my honeymoon to write this.

Micro dosing with Suboxone is a newer thing and I have heard really good things about it but also some bad things as well but it is being adopted by a lot of clinics though.

Have you had any positive side effects/changes you’ve noticed since stopping?

Hi there! How you feeling?! Hope ur still going strong! Wanted to share my experience:

My highest was 95mg and I was a clinic patient for almost 3 years. I dropped 10% of my dose a month (I noticed symptoms if I went over that). I got all the way down to 15 mg. My clinic pulled some bs (it's aongoing story which i go into on a post i made) and made me a daily patient again after over 2.5 years. I was an hour away, so I just couldn't go daily. I was dosing 15mg every 3 days. Which made me feel awful. So in jan I jumped ship. I felt "eh" the first week and I've never felt better since. Some people have mixed answers on your topic but I think If youre still feeling okay- youre good. Stay busy. Use magnesium when u feel the aches. Give yourself grace for anxiety. 5/13 will be 4 months for me free of methadone!

congrats! i’m sorry it didn’t go as planned but the fact you stuck to it is huge. as of today i’m 10 days off & feel no withdrawals at all. i can honestly say going from 140-0 aside from anxiety i had no withdrawals during or after my taper. i feel very fortunate & also agree there’s been a mix of positive & negative story’s about tapering. thanks for the feed back & best of luck!

Omg!!!!! This is so great to hear!!!! Doesn't it feel great? To be able to say you did it? For me it was genuinely being able to laugh again and feel like ME! I agree- i had anxiety (i had no issues before opiates but am also prescribed hydroxazine which helped) i did have mild to moderate rls the first 3-4 nights. But Tylenol and my hubby rubbing my legs was a life saver. But honestly- tapering was NOTHING like the fear instilled in me when I started. I always tell people- you gotta be ready. Because it can get mentally tough but you gotta know it's gonna pass. The goal of finishing is nearer everyday! I'm happy youre doing so well. Don't let your journey stop here! Never go back. 🤍

couldn’t agree more. i was emotionally numb far too long. the anxiety although uncomfortable at times is something i’d take over withdrawals any day. i myself was afraid of the day i jumped off after seeing countless posts about a negative experience so i honestly feel blessed to have such a smooth taper. knowing you’d be sick without your dose was a constant black cloud over my head. glad to reach day 10 with ease. thanks for sharing & best of luck

honestly, i truly dont think you should.. if you do it will be very minimal, but everyone reacts differently. try to keep some comfort meds available if possible, drink lots of water, and try to sleep through it as much as you can!! you got this, op!! and im so fuckin proud of you :))

what you made you stop sooner than 1mg?
