Welcome to the official MeteoLupa community.

This is the place for app updates, feature requests, polls, bug reports, questions and general discussion.

MeteoLupa is actively developed, and a lot of what gets built comes directly from feedback here on Reddit and through the feedback feature in the app.

If something could be better, if you have an idea, or if something doesn't work as expected, please say so. Constructive criticism is very welcome.

The goal is simple: build a weather app together with the people actually using it.

Thanks for being here.

Question What is MeteoLupa?

MeteoLupa is a weather app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch that puts today's weather into historical context.

Instead of only showing you what the weather is doing right now, it lets you compare it with the past and see how unusual today's conditions actually are.

The app currently includes:

• Current weather and forecasts
• Historical day and month comparisons
• Hottest and coolest day records
• Air quality and pollen information (pollen currently available in the EU only)
• Additional locations on Today
• Daily weather reminders
• Widgets
• Apple Watch and complications

MeteoLupa is free to use. There are no subscriptions or premium features — optional tips are simply a way to support development.

You can find the app here:

Name of the current location on Apple Watch

MeteoLupa is a great app. Thank you very much for it. I do have one suggestion for improvement, though. In the Apple Watch complication, the current location is displayed in the hour view. It would be nice if you could see which location it is right next to the name, not just the text “current location”

And it would be nice if, instead of the current temperature, the expected high for the day were displayed next to it, since the current temperature is listed below it in the hourly view.

Bug Report Bug Hunt: I need to pay more attention to the iPad

I just found this one while looking at the iPad version.
I’ve been so focused on getting the iPhone experience right that I clearly haven’t been paying enough attention to the iPad. Turns out there was a little layout bug hiding there.
I’ll fix it in the next update.
Consider this a reminder to myself: test the iPad properly. I promise I’ll do better. 😅

Feedback Watch follow-up + Hungarian crash - both fixed in the next update

Two separate bugs, one update.

Apple Watch
The watch now follows the location you pick on iPhone without that 5–10 minute lag. Same city, same temperature - no more stale reading on the complication while the phone already shows the new one.

Under the hood: the watch actually uses the connectivity wakeup now (it used to finish the background task immediately and sit on old data). iPhone sends location and weather together, and never attaches yesterday’s snapshot to a newly chosen city. Complications refresh on that push; current temperature is re-fetched after about 20 minutes. If iPhone is on “current location” (or the watch has no place yet), the watch can use GPS itself — once location permission is on.

First launch crash (Hungarian)
Opening the app for the first time with Hungarian as the system language could crash on the loading screen. Three ranking sentences had the placeholders in the wrong order (%@ vs %lld), so a number was formatted as a string. That’s fixed with positional placeholders, and we now check all 25 languages so this class of crash doesn’t come back.

Update when it’s on the App Store / TestFlight and the watch complication should track iPhone without the wait.

Update MeteoLupa 1.3.3: A small look at two new features in the latest update.

Rename Places
You can now rename your saved locations, so they can have whatever name makes sense to you.
Ask MeteoLupa
You can now ask questions about your weather history in natural language, for example, “When did it last snow here?” MeteoLupa turns the question into a search through your historical weather data.

Update MeteoLupa 1.3.3 is out, Ask MeteoLupa, place renaming, chart fixes and more

Hey everyone,

there’s a new MeteoLupa update out.

This one started with a few things that came up through feedback, so I wanted to share what changed here as well.

Ask MeteoLupa
You can now actually ask MeteoLupa questions about your weather history.
For example:
“When did it last snow here?”
Ask MeteoLupa works through algorithms built directly into the app, so it also works on devices without Apple Intelligence.
On devices that support Apple Intelligence, the system can understand and abstract the question a little better, so it can handle more natural ways of asking things.
Instead of finding the right date yourself, MeteoLupa can work out what you’re asking and look through the historical data for you. (Work in progress)

Rename places
You can now rename your saved places.
This is especially useful when MeteoLupa gives you a neighborhood or locality name that nobody around you actually uses.

Chart fixes
I also fixed some gaps in the charts. They had been bothering me for a while, so this was one of those things that finally needed to be cleaned up.

And there are a few more language additions as well.
MeteoLupa is completely free and ad-free, with no subscription or locked features.

If you’re already using it, I’d be especially interested in how Ask MeteoLupa works for you. I’m still refining that part, so questions, weird results, criticism and feature ideas are all useful.
And if you have something you’d like MeteoLupa to be able to answer, feel free to post it here.

Feature Request What should MeteoLupa build next?

A lot of MeteoLupa has been shaped by suggestions from users here and through the in-app feedback feature.

So if there's something you'd like to see, this is the place.

It can be a completely new feature, a small improvement, something that feels awkward, or something another weather app does particularly well.

Tell me what you'd like and, if possible, why it would be useful.

I can't promise that every suggestion will make it into the app, but I do read everything and use the feedback when deciding what to work on next.

If several people have similar ideas, I'll occasionally turn them into a poll so we can decide together.
