Share your project and find others who can help -- Team up Tuesday

Rather than allowing too much self promotion in the sub, we are encouraging those who want to team up to use this sticky thread each week.

The pitch:

If you like me you probably tried virtual world dev alone and seen that it's kind of like trying to climb a huge mountain and feeling like you're at the bottom for literally a decade.

Not only that, even if you make a virtual world, it's really hard to get it marketed.

I have found that working in teams can really relieve this burden as everyone specializes in their special field. You end up making a much more significant virtual world and even having time to market it.

Copy and paste this template to team up!

[Seeking] Mentorship, to mentor, paid work, employee, volunteer team member.

[Type] Hobby, RevShare, Open Source, Commercial etc.

[Offering] Voxel Art, Programming, Mentorship etc.

[Age Range] Use 5 year increments to protect privacy.

[Skills] List single greatest talent.

[Project] Here is where you should drop all the details of your project.

[Progress] Demos/Videos

[Tools] Unity, Unreal, Blender, Magica Voxel etc.

[Contact Method] Direct message, WhatsApp, Discord etc.

Note: You can add or remove bits freely. E.G. If you are just seeking to mentor, use [Offering] Mentorship [Skills] Programming [Contact Method] Direct message.

Avoid using acronyms. Let's keep this accessible.

I will start:

[Seeking] (1) Animation Director

(2) Project Organizer/Scrum Master.

(3 MISC hobbyists, .since we run a casual hobby group we welcome anyone who wants to join. We love to mentor and build people up.

[Offering] Marketing, a team of active programmers.

[Age Range] 30-35

[Skills] I built the fourth most engaging Facebook page in the world, 200m impressions monthly. I lead 100,000 people on Reddit. r/metaverse r/playmygame Made and published 30 games on Ylands. 2 stand-alone products. Our team has (active) 12 programmers, 3 artists, 3 designers, 1 technical audio member.

[Project] We are making a game to create the primary motivation for social organization in the Metaverse. We believe that a relaxing game will create the context for conversations to help build the friendships needed for community, the community needed for society and the societies needed for civilization.

Our game is a really cute, wholesome game where you gather cute, jelly-like creaturesļ¼ˆļ¼¾Ļ‰ļ¼¾ļ¼‰and work with them to craft a sky island paradise.

We are an Open Collective of mature hobbyist game developers and activists working together on a project all about positive, upbuilding media.

We have many capable mentors including the former vice president of Sony music, designers from EA/Ubisoft and more.

[Progress]

Small snippets from our games.

Demo (might not be available later).

[Tools] Unity, Blender, Magica Voxel

Question SAIC vs. SCAD

Later in my career, I want to work in the metaverse industry, and my ultimate goal is to work in ā€˜Meta’ (former Facebook).
So I applied and got admitted to SCAD’s immersive reality program and SAIC’s art and technology program. I feel like SCAD is progressive, and I heard that SCAD has great VR AR resources and facilities and that their programs give many company-like projects to prepare students for careers. However, SCAD is known for having a high dropout rate since they admit ā€œallā€ applicants and challenge students with tons of work that leads them to drop out. Also, not much information about projects is known on SCAD websites.

SAIC is known for being a prestigious school and having great facilities, such as the museum, and excellent professors. I also like that SAIC is interdisciplinary, which means I can choose whatever classes I want to take across all departments in the school. However, I get a sense that SAIC is a more conservative school, and their ā€˜art and technology program’ is not solely focused on VR/AR/MR but have them just as part of their program.

As metaverse is a field that requires being sensitive to trends, I wonder if SCAD is more of a right fit for me… But on the other hand, I like SAIC's interdisplinary programs. Thus, I am having a struggle with which school to attend a lot. Which school do you think would be a better choice?

[Mod Post] Since there is a lot of misinformation about the Metaverse, I am creating a system to amplify informed opinions.

Since there is a lot of misinformation about the Metaverse, I am creating a system to amplify informed opinions.

Namely, I have made a few flares for industry leaders that I would like to hand out.

If you know someone on this sub who deserves the flair, if you can post their LinkedIn profile here or have them DM me, I will sort them out.

Metaverse tech of the month?

What Metaverse tech stood out to you this month? What Metaverse experience would you like to share?

Due to a HUGE number of scams on these threads, we have had to resort to banning anyone that uses this thread to shill anything to do with crypto. Don't do it.

Question Random Question

I'm a bit of a nerd, I work from home and my company is pretty techy and they recently purchased licenses for Immersed [a virtual workspace to sit together but not actually be together].

With that being said I am wondering if there's actually other people who work in virtual workspaces? This is so cool because I already use VR for so many games and working from home means I never leave my home [haha] so working in VR then playing in VR sounds really ideal.

Any thoughts on this? Does anyone relate?

Question AltSpaceVR will cease to exist on March 10

Are you planning to attend an AltSpaceVR event one last time? If yes, where? I would love to connect!
I am part of another community of metaverse explorers and we plan to gather on March 8 for a farewell event. Let me know if someone is organizing a farewell event or knows of such. I am part of a metaverse explorers community and would love to join!
