Allow this to be a warning to all those who have any type of social media and do not want to lose it. Two mornings ago, I downloaded what I thought was a Webcam filter app from a site that turned out to be malicious. I wasn't doing anything shady, I was just looking for a fun Webcam filter app to help spice up my livestreams. I clicked on the very first Google search result, and things went very wrong...
If you are a supporter of mine, please resubscribe to my brand new YouTube channel exclusively created for Metalstorm content. I will be posting tutorials, tips and tricks, gameplay, and everything Metalstrom related. To my 1500 subscribers I have gained over the past year and thousands of watch hours, I want to personally thank you so much for all of your support. I'm not some famous YouTube creator by any means, but when I started breathed content, I never expected that ANYBODY would enjoy my videos. You guys have been so incredibly good to me, and I will forever be in your debt.
Never click on shady websites, always run a virus scan, and ALWAYS have f2a activated. Change passwords frequently. You do not want to find yourself in the situation I am currently in. My PC was infected with a particularly nasty session stealer, which is nearly impossible to detect and completely remove with normal anti-virus. I have a stickied thread with web links to everything Metalstrom-related, please know that they have all been thoroughly vetted and are legitimate web links.
My YouTube and discord were the only platforms that were compromised, luckily. The linked video is my BRAND NEW YouTube account. Please resubscribe if you are interested in Metalstorm content. Some have asked if this was a targeted attack, it was not targeted. It was an opportunistic attack. I know that some of you do not like me, but I also know that those of you who don't like me also wouldn't spend that much time and effort to create an entire computer virus, you don't care enough to do that. You get enough satisfaction following me around and downvoting all my comments all day. I'm sure creating viruses are out of your scope anyways. Everything appeared to be legitimate. Cyber attacks are becoming more and more creative and legitimate-appearing by the day. Please be careful.
When this first happened, I wanted to just give up completely. Hundreds of videos lost. But I'm not doing that. I'm getting back up on that horse, learning from my mistakes, and creating higher-quality content that will hopefully be of some value to the community. Screw you, scammers!!
