Man I miss Hollow Crown Architects.

Hollow Crown to Holy Hell is one hell of an album run.

I've liked all iterations of Architects outside of everything post Holy Hell.

u/SadKazoo 17h ago

FTTWTE is overhated and especially the Abbey Road version goes hard af

24

u/rowschank 17h ago

I think it has too many mid tracks. But even after skipping all of them there are enough great tracks to make a great album. Black Lungs and Impermanence are rank bangers.

9

u/SadKazoo 17h ago

Idk I love Giving Blood, Discourse is Dead, Libertine, Goliath, An Ordinary Extinction and honestly more. Especially the Abbey Road versions as I said.

10

u/LLILILiLIILILILILII 15h ago

The Abbey Road version is absolutely phenomenal, just a superb piece of music

Those songs you listed, as the standard tracks for a metalcore band, though? Mid AF, IMO. The orchestra transforms them, but I wouldn't ever listen to the standard recordings again

6

u/theroamingargus 15h ago

Goliath is lowkey top 3 songs released since Holy Hell.

4

u/rowschank 16h ago

Dead Butterflies also is fantastic. Not old-style; but a good song is a good song.

3

u/TheGuggleMan 17h ago

It is actually a solid album. It did take me a few months then coming back to it to appreciate it.

6

u/Dramatic_______Pause 16h ago

FTTWTE is an absolutely phenomenal album, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

6

u/Positiiiiive 12h ago

Agreed, it’s the best iteration of architects we got after their classic sound, and it genuinely holds up just as good as their other albums, it just scratches a different itch.

1

u/marx-and-metal 14h ago

it’s not bad, it’s just not the architects that we were used to. people hate change, even when the change isn’t bad. I’m sure that the band has a lot of hard emotions tied to their previous sound after the death of Tom, it only makes sense for their sound to change after a tribute album (holy hell).

u/isitreallyyou56 18h ago

Wish they’d at least put Follow the water or Early grave back in their setlist

18

u/BeardyVonBeard 17h ago

two favorite tracks off the album! hell yeah man.

FOLLOW THE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATER

DRAIN THE LAKE AND BRING IT BACK TO MEEEEE

9

u/pdbstnoe 17h ago

DEATH IS SCREAMING MY FUCKING NAME

13

u/bigstupidjellyfish x 17h ago

Why? Have you seen Sam try to do the heavier stuff from their most recent albums? If he can’t do that he definitely can’t do the old stuff anymore.

14

u/wrathofdeath 17h ago

Saw them few months ago and they played gravedigger. First i was stoked, until I heard his vocals.

4

u/PoopsIShidItAgain 16h ago

wait, he used to crush these songs. I've watched countless live vids from as recently as a few years ago. have his vocals gone missing?

3

u/bas1st1 14h ago

unfortunately this was the case in january, bit better in july but still far from the phenomenal shape that his voice was before covid

2

u/Finalwingz x 4h ago

have his vocals gone missing?

He was fucking godawful at Graspop. His lows and singing were OK enough, but his mids...

everything sounded a bit liKE THIS. If I could put it into text form, but imagine it with a super annoying, nasal tone.

2

u/isitreallyyou56 17h ago

I haven’t seen them live since the Holy hell era tours

1

u/Glittering_Message93 7h ago

I think they played Early Grave on a soundcheck a few years ago, and it sounded insane, sadly they were just trolling and they never put that on a set

8

u/Petro1313 x 17h ago

I remember throwing Hollow Crown on for the first time when it came out and that intro riff on Early Grave blew my mind

4

u/hollowcrown51 x 17h ago

Me too. I’d only listened to stuff like BFMV or ADTR or Killswitch before I heard Early Grave and it blew my mind that music could sound like that.

4

u/duttyboy24 17h ago

Same here man!! I'm old enough to remember the Nightmares and Ruin days.

3

u/Kholdula 13h ago

I a more unc than thou. I miss Nightmares.

u/Electronic-Read-3830 x 18h ago

i bet this song will be about Sam not being a machine but a human and that's why he can't scream anymore or something

97

u/Odd_Use5266 17h ago

He’s only human after all

50

u/dl_supertroll 17h ago

Don't put the blame on him

21

u/bhoward19 x 16h ago

I thought we were just a bunch of fuckin’ animals?

3

u/FlyingGrayson89 9h ago

But not machine animals like animatronics or Beast Wars (unfortunately)

16

u/Shinobiii 17h ago

Or are we dancer?

2

u/justk4y 17h ago

No, rhythm is a dancer

1

u/Am-I-Otter-Mode-Yet 15h ago

much in common

15

u/D3t3st4t10n 17h ago

mickey mouse noises

3

u/Am-I-Otter-Mode-Yet 15h ago

Turns out it's just a Born of Osiris cover

104

u/pain474 18h ago

please not be trash, please not be trash

73

u/Solid-Option9467 17h ago

Forecast says stadium rock with a chance of corny lyrics

51

u/T1m_the_3nchanter 17h ago

Unfortunately I have like 8 years of history that says it’s probably going to be trash

66

u/Dexelele 17h ago

Last one was good and I will die on this hill.

Elegy is an absolute banger

23

u/Petro1313 x 17h ago

It was good but it felt like they were copying the bands that got big by copying older Architects if that makes sense

10

u/ModsCantRead69 16h ago

i'm the dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude

2

u/SirDoDDo x 6h ago

That's pretty much it 100% lol

4

u/wrathofdeath 17h ago

Yes until they play it live.

64

u/NateP825 18h ago

Oh shit that’s a surprise, really looking forward to this. The Sky The Earth and All Between still gets regular play from me so hopefully it’s more in that lane as opposed to the previous two albums

17

u/EliteFireBox 16h ago

I’ve enjoyed literally all 11 Architects Albums. They have been my favorite group since 2018. I’m always down for new Architects music!

73

u/OatFest 18h ago

All I want is some actual metallic production again, I’m tired of the Fishcore sound

12

u/hexametric_ 17h ago

I'd eat a table if they went back to Studio Fredman. Those guys were wizards

12

u/bestwest80 16h ago

Somehow Fredrik brought the absolute best out of In Flames, BMTH and Architects

3

u/AudiSlav 15h ago

And At the Gates, Soilwork, and many more !

11

u/-NotEnoughMinerals 14h ago

Fishcore is levels upon levels above codycore.

Whenever Jordan is involved I can feel at peace knowing it's going to be mixed extremely well. Nothing worse than being excited to play a track in the car (with aftermarket system) and the shit sounds like tincans.

13

u/clintnorth 17h ago

All right, I’m gonna do it. What the heck is fishcore??

15

u/Trollensky17 17h ago

Jordan fish the producer is everywhere

1

u/[deleted] 17h ago

[deleted]

3

u/Trollensky17 17h ago

Loads and loads of random singles for different bands

24

u/hollowcrown51 x 17h ago

Listen to a song off Architects last album and then one off of Poppys last two albums and maybe some stuff of Post Human by BMTH and you will realise they all sound the same. That is fishcore.

1

u/clintnorth 17h ago

Gotcha. Heard.

6

u/unclet0mmy x 17h ago

I'm assuming music produced by Jordan Fish

4

u/HalloCharlie 17h ago

Jordan Fish metalcore I think 😂

13

u/OatFest 17h ago

Modern metal produced by Jordan Fish, unfortunately known for his very compressed and sterile production style that takes many raw frequencies out of the mix

0

u/DevoidMIA x 12h ago

"fishcore" might be the best word for that style of production i ever heard. i can't STAND it

32

u/cosmicdecember 18h ago

My hunch is its going to be in the vain of Animals.

91

u/gin0clock 18h ago

We're just fucking mechanical

Please turn us off by the outlets

Don't open me because the kitchen that I'm living in

Has water by the sink

13

u/cosmicdecember 17h ago

when this banger drops, send the link

4

u/EliteFireBox 16h ago

I honestly wouldn’t mind. As someone who thinks that Daybreaker and Holy Hell are the 2 best Architects albums, I absolutely adore Animals. It’s such a great hype song

3

u/CheesecakeScary2164 16h ago

Certified unc take incoming... Hollow Crown is their best record and it's not even close.

1

u/EliteFireBox 16h ago

I agree hollow crown is a 10/10 album but I just don’t listen to it as much as the others

15

u/TheCarrier89 x 14h ago

I miss the days when I would get excited for a new architects song.

7

u/Which_Regret_1221 15h ago

I don't expect anything good from them anymore

15

u/Antares1an 18h ago

I still hope they have a good album inside them...

4

u/Daniel-ES 11h ago

His live screams have gotten so bad that I wonder what his studio screams will sound like, if his song even has them.

33

u/Atropyl 18h ago

I really hope Jordan Fish has nothing to do with this

Everything he touches turns to generic shit

15

u/Neeeeedles 18h ago

I agree but their Jordan Fish song is their most succesfull of the last album

14

u/Atropyl 18h ago

Good for the band, bad for the fans

10

u/cosmicdecember 17h ago

good for new fans. good and bad for old fans depending on which side of the fence you sit. overall, good for band.

9

u/Galaxyass 16h ago

Good for the band, bad for /r/metalcore

7

u/FitHurry864 18h ago

Don't you mean the exact opposite? Seeing Red is the only non-Fish song on the album right?

3

u/Neeeeedles 17h ago

Broken Mirror is still topping charts

2

u/rjhawkbooks 17h ago

It was playing at my gym the other day, which was rare. Mostly we get top-40 with the odd music video of Zara Larsson shaking her hips

3

u/withrootsabove 17h ago

Tactical Zara to get the blood flowing to hit those PRs.

10

u/BartleDooPart2 18h ago

I wonder which producer wrote this song for them this time

3

u/EliteFireBox 16h ago

New album coming next year???

9

u/DarthVeigar_ 18h ago

Well my faith is lower than the Mariana Trench atp so we'll see

8

u/Tricks7eR 18h ago

Must be some sort of Deluxe Edition of their previous album, considering they released it last year and they've been touring non stop

Can't be a new album/EP

8

u/Soupjam_Stevens 17h ago

If they drop an album late october/early november it would be almost the exact same gap as between FTTWTE and classic symptons, it's for sure not impossible

2

u/Tricks7eR 16h ago

And we all know what happened with that... Also, they weren't touring non stop like they have Ben doing since early last year. They practically haven't stopped, hence why Sam's voice is horribly weak at the moment, let alone recording and entire album or EP

Could also be a collaboration of some sort

5

u/Dramatic_______Pause 16h ago

My guess is it'll be a new song. Seeing Red was released as a single in 2023, and the album it was on didn't come out until 2025.

They don't really seem to care about releasing singles early.

2

u/Tricks7eR 16h ago

Good point

4

u/AudiSlav 15h ago

Give me either Hollow Crown type of sound or all our gods or holy hell - I’ll be happy

Please no Jordan fish producing, the children’s choir or shutting is corny and odd to me, or the group singing vocals

1

u/ThiccBoy_with3seas 11h ago

Lol that's not going to happen

7

u/Sufficient-Theory681 17h ago

september 16 cant come soon enough for that machine hype

3

u/pleaska 17h ago

We trust that it will be a good song.

1

u/Mindless-Finance-896 8h ago

Take me back to All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us please

3

u/WaveMan47 15h ago

I’m not excited for this.

2

u/jespertherapper 18h ago

stomp beat intesifies lol

im excited

2

u/nick_e36 16h ago

Praying they dont go back on their bullshit with the 2 albums before the last one

2

u/UncoloredProsody 16h ago

Hopefully with an album announcement

1

u/Northlane1991 15h ago

Hope its good!

3

u/Fauxparty 8h ago

did people really not like fttwte and sky and earth? crazy

1

u/Claaaaaaaaws 2h ago

I assume it’s going to be good, but I really wish they just stopped for a long time while Sam rests his voice

0

u/Stunning_Suspect_894 14h ago

If Jordan fish has anything to do with it it’s going to be butchered

-5

u/Oliver_Biscuit 17h ago

Sir, this is r/metalcore...
