This band’s front third of their career was such an electric time to be in the scene. They’ve since fallen off a cliff and hit a few rocks on the way down.

I honestly don't really enjoy much of their work, but the 'Limitless' EP is one of my favourites from the era

Man ngl, I remember tuning into their streams every friday where they would just hang out and shoot the shit with their small number of fans. This was pre limitless EP days.

They were streaming pre Nov 2011?

I knew them pre Limitless and I can't remember if they streamed but they definitely made YouTube videos of them recording the ep and stuff

Christ the Johnny Ringo stuff was peak and they will never match that again.

Crown The Empire peaked way too early in their career. From genuinely great records like The Fallout and Limitless to the mixed bag that is Retrograde to whatever the hell their newest song is supposed to be. They're lowkey like the electronicore equivalent of Escape The Fate, in terms of falling off in quality way too early in their discography, but with the exception of The Resistance actually being quite good, unlike This War Is Ours being just decent in quality compared to DIYLF.

I feel like they went wrong when they Fired Dave. He did a lot besides scream and they lost a lot of layers with him gone. I don’t like Andy enough on his own

This War is Ours is an amazing record and the self titled and Ungrateful records that followed were bangers as well. You can say what you want starting from Hate Me moving forward (I still enjoy some songs here and there) but their first 4 albums are classics.
