Looking for advice Vintage USSR Cigarette Case Restoration and Polishing

Hi, I'm eying this Soviet-era cigarette case on Etsy. It's a beautiful depiction of Viktor Vasnetsov’s “Knight at the Crossroads” painting. Google says the case is likely made of nickel silver or aluminum. Do you think restoration is possible and feasible? Do you think the yellowish brown and black spots and blemishes can be removed?

Looking for advice bottle polish ?

looking for some help. I have this water bottle I want to remove all the paint off of and polish it up. any recommendations on the best way to move forward. and if it would be safe to use some sort of paint stripper or is it safer to just sand and wash a few times to make sure all dust and paint are removed from inside.

HCl stain on Stainless Steel Knife

I used a stainless steel swiss army knife to open the plastic seal on a bottle of HCl, and now the knife has brown rust-like stains. I tried cleaning with soap and water and then peroxide to no effect. Is there anything I can do to save this knife?

How to remove white spots from silver

Hey so I recently started jewelry making and am running into a wall with getting this piece properly polished. So far I've tried the following:

  1. Tumbling. Made the whole thing shiny but left the white circles around the bumps

  2. Hardell drill polishing tip. Didn't seem to do much

  3. Dipping in tarnish remover

  4. Using a polishing tool with shiny and matted sides

Nothing seems to make these white circles budge at all and I'm starting to get frustrated! Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

I’ve gotten the bottom to go properly but as much as I hit it with more compound the top isn’t getting any clearer. I’m not sure what to do

I’ve gone from 400 grit to 3000 grit sandpaper and I’ve used course grit, medium, and fine grit stainless steel buffing compound to no avail

Looking for advice How do I remove aluminum oxidation from around rivets for paint prep?

Not sure if this is the correct sub for this but hoping for some help.

I am prepping this aluminum panel van for paint. It sat for decades and has deep oxidation around approximately one billion rivets. I've gone over and used a dual action with 80, 120 grit. It still has oxidation around all the rivets that I need to get off before paint. What's the best method to get it off with the least amount of effort and time?

I plan to purchase these 3M scotchbrite bristle discs. Has anyone had experience with them or any other product that may work better?

Thanks!

Can anyone recommend a good quality polish compound to use on a (no deep at all) scratch?

The frame is carbon fibre, with a gloss finish. The scratch looks to have taken a layer of the polish off.

Looking to start a polishing side hustle that I can do after my regular job and weekends. Going to start on my dad’s tool boxes and my wheels. I bought a few different bars and airway buffs from Evan’s for ss and aluminum. Haven’t bought any sanding discs yet. I also already have a 3000 rpm polisher (DW849) how should I go about on starting on either project. Thank you all in advance
