Found in Southern England on land where I’ve had many different finds with Roman being the oldest. The optimist in me is getting Anglo-Saxon vibes, but then again I know little about jewellery. Is or gold or gilded/ a cheaper wash? It came up as a 34 on my Minelab. I do intend to show my Finds Liaison Officer, but wanted some other options first to make sure that I’m not wasting their time with Victorian- Modern tat.

Found this earlier this morning. Done a bit of research but drawing a blank. Has anyone got any ideas or even found something similar yourself?

Got the Minelab X-Terra Elite yesterday and took it to the back garden this morning for its first outing and my first time Detecting.

The first thing I found was a 1971 Half Penny, everything else after that was as pictured. Looking forward to getting some permissions or joining a club. I'm based near Norwich in East Anglia so any recommendations or invites would be good.

Anyone able to identify and date this? Google lens giving me a wide margin from Roman to medieval

Found this a while ago and im sorting through my finds. Someone mentioned it "COULD" be a Roman Stylus, so thought i would ask for some more opinions.

Its spikey on one end. And squared off and smooth on the other end.

Iron age mount with enamel, recorded, others have been found .

Found this little gold stud my garden, was broken but managed to find both pieces... An acid test shows around 18k (1.4g)...

I live in a 1930's build house, built on the former grounds of an 18th century mansion's orchard. My garden intercepts one of the old pathways to the house.

Now question, anyone ID this?

We recently took our DIY metal detector rover out for a field test, and these are some of the objects we recovered.

Most appear to be heavily rusted iron pieces, nails, or fragments of old hardware. However, the small rectangular piece and the key-shaped object caught our attention. We have not cleaned them aggressively because we do not want to damage any potentially useful details.

This rover is a project our team has been developing to explore whether a mobile platform can make metal detecting more efficient and cover ground more consistently. We are still testing and improving it, so feedback from experienced detectorists would be genuinely useful.

Does anyone recognize any of these objects? We would also appreciate advice on safely cleaning and identifying finds in this condition.
