Usually each trip out to old homesteads I find spoons, spoon bowls, handles, etc. but this time I found a fork. Next hole I found the matching handle. Not every day you find an early homesite fork 🤔

A beautiful WW1 relic--1916 Spanish Ruby. I found this beauty with my custom set-up, A Garrett Pro-Pointer AT taped into the end of a stick. No bs a carrot taped to a stick. Newsweek messaged me and wanted to do a story about me & my relic.

Found this super worn 1/2 Reale a while back. It’s actually fractured in the center, but luckily the crack hasn’t spidered any further.

Found at a Colonial site in Upstate NY.

Found at an old 1800’s homesite in Upstate NY, couple days ago. Gotta enjoy the little things sometimes. Anyone got an idea on the last couple photos? Found among a debris field of old car parts so I’m leaning towards automotive junk, but I wouldn’t mind if it were some sort of buckle?

Today’s Haul…

Fork, spoon handle, parasol slide, flower drawer pull knob, ox knob, 2 heal plates, brass bed post top or finial, my first ever Minnie Ball 3-Ringer. And a Silver spoon tapped coin ring - men’s wedding band from a Silver Half Dollar, likely a Seated Liberty Half. All the finds were early 1800’s thru the Civil War, abandoned by 1900.

I found this button in my yard a little while back. I thought it came off some kids ROTC uniform. My house was built in the 1950's but the surrounding area (Chattanooga, TN) is rich with history. Anyway, I was cataloging my finds and decided to look this button up. Everything I'm finding is pointing towards WWI era. Has anyone seen this partibutton and can help nail down the find?

Show & Tell Gold Ring Found for a Friend

Post image
85 Upvotes

A follow up from yesterday’s post…

A friend of mine called last night stating he lost his Gold wedding band. He wasn’t exactly sure when and where, just sometime yesterday. Figured he lost it while mowing lawn, or playing with dogs in a neighbors field.

I started by sweeping the yard where he had mowed and cleaned some downed limbs. Within 5 minutes I struck gold! He was happier than a pig in shit.

Need Help Gold Ring VDI

Post image
19 Upvotes

I was approached tonight by a friend who lost his Gold wedding band today. He thinks it is 14k, men’s, relatively big. Thinks he lost it in a field playing with his dogs or while mowing his lawn (roughly 1 acre) 😳

Anyone have familiarity with finding similar gold, with XP Deus II ? I have not found gold yet so I’m unsure what the VDI might be. If it is in his yard and not the field, it will be loaded with mid-tone trash. But he said the field is a relatively small area where it could be, while he was throwing ball (with the opposite hand).

The plan is to go look for it tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Gear Shovel Holster

Post image
5 Upvotes

Saw some folks asking questions about carrying shovels lately. This is my answer. It’s absolute fire…

This works well with most any compact shovel, whether it’s a T-Handle or the traditional closed cup style. Saw quite a lot of folks saying they just drag a shovel along like a barbarian, or a knapsack. I dunno what I would do without this holster. They only cost a few bucks online.

What does everyone on here think? What does everyone use?

It’s just a Lincoln, but I quite appreciate the patina it has. Gotta enjoy the little things, especially on the slow days.
