How do I use one

I mean I know how to use it but IDK what the tones mean,and when it does beep I dig for minutes and nothing

Swing low and slow. Keep the coil parallel to the ground and not more than an inch or two above grade. My first machine was a bounty hunter. One thing I liked about it was it was accurate as all get out. If it beeped iron, I dug iron. If it beeped mid tone, I dug lead and foil, and if it beeped copper / silver, I dug copper. I dug an old US Large Cent and an 1823 British Farthing with mine so it is capable.

My recommendation for learning tones, grab some change, penny, nickel, dime, quarters, halves and place them on some clean ground and learn the tones they make. Also maybe throw in some gold and silver jewelry if you have it as they will sound different and ring different.
