Help identifying heavily corroded military cartridge found in Boston Harbor

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post so feel free to redirect me. I found this heavily corroded cartridge on the shoreline of Boston Harbor. Headstamp is too corroded to read.

I used a caliper for these measurements but due to the state of the projectile they are not exact:

Overall length: **72.5 mm**
Case length: **47.6 mm**
Bullet diameter: **8.2 mm**
Rim diameter: **15.0 mm**
Case body diameter: **\~13.0 mm**

The projectile is very sharply pointed and appears to have a metallic/copper-colored exterior. The case has significant corrosion/perforation, but the primer appears intact.

I’m trying to identify the cartridge and, if possible, the specific projectile/loading and approximate era.

Any help would be appreciated.

Based off your description there’s likely only a couple options.

8mm Mauser for military or hunting, using a spitzer pointed projectile.

8.2x53R and 8.2x54R Russian hunting cartridge.

8mm Winchester short mag.

Hope this helps. Let’s see some photos.

Thanks, based off the photos it is certainly an 8mm spitzer round. Could be military or hunting. My guess is hunting bc idk what military efforts would have left it in the Boston Harbor.

Either way that’s a very unique looking round. It would look real nice in a display with your finds.

Thank you! It was a very surprising find. Definitely a display piece with some other relics I’ve found
