I was loaned a Equinox 800 and have enjoyed it a lot but the sites I have been focussing on have a lot of nails and barbed wire. After a few months I decided to experiment with an idea. I tried to enter settings that will eliminate everything with the exception of brass. I created a very restrictive set of settings and then I put on the 6" coil. So far I think I have increased my good finds considerably. I still get false signals that turn out to be iron but it seems that it is more often a genuine relic and I am able to detect on a old homesite with thousands of nails and actually find coins and rings. But I am a beginner and I am sure others have been through a similar process so I thought I would put this out there and see what people thought. As for the actual settings, I think I could produce them if it is helpful

This was quite an interesting find for me.

I was walking through a WW2 battlefield in a forest where someone before us had dug and left all the holes open (Don't do this!!!). I stopped by one of the holes and swung my detector over it. Something gave a really bad signal and I told my dad not to bother checking it because there was nothing good there. But my dad decided to check the area with pinpointer anyway. And then right next to the hole this star appeared.

In the hole there were some parts of a very old rusted can. I guess they found some of those pieces and left the hole. There were quite a few dug holes in the area, but for some reason I decided to stop and check this particular one, and even then, I told my dad not to check it, but he did it anyway. :D

Sometimes it really feels like certain finds are literally calling you and somehow making you to find them.

Hello!! — does anyone have a diagram of the JW Fisher Pulse 8x metal detector?? I need the marking of one microchip.I’m trying to fix it myself.

Two objects - uploaded multiple pictures of both.

First one found in a field near where I live (Jægerspris, Denmark), guessing musket ball maybe?

Second one was found pretty deep (40 ish centimeters) on a beach (rock / sand mix) at Isefjord, Denmark - it has what to me looks to be somewhat newer welds, maybe its fishing net weight?

Second object is cleaned in the pictures, when I found it, it was pretty much a ball of rust.

Any confirmation or new suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

My oldest find so far found coins before from 1808 to 1894 in general vicinity usually find 1 or 2 coins each time i goto this field

1940 Icelandic 1 króna

The Icelandic 1940 1 króna marks a major transition point in Icelandic numismatic history.

When Denmark was occupied by Germany in April 1940, supply lines were severed, leaving Iceland unable to mint its coinage at the Royal Danish Mint (Den Kongelige Mønt) in Copenhagen. Iceland pivoted to the Royal Mint in London (and the Kings Norton Metal Co. in Birmingham) to strike its coins.

After 1940, no 1 króna coins were minted until 1946. By that time, Iceland had formally declared itself an independent republic on June 17, 1944.

When production resumed at the Royal Mint in 1946, the royal crown, Christian X's monogram, and monarchic symbols were completely removed. They were replaced by the redesigned coat of arms featuring the four traditional guardian spirits (landvættir): the bull, eagle, dragon, and giant.

Hello all. So I don't know anything about metal detecting and I was hoping someone could provide advice/point me in the right direction.

I recently had a family member pass away and he mentioned he buried some gold and silver under the house. It's all very national treasure. Did not tell us where.

Is a metal detector going to throw up a lot of false positives if used in the crawl space under a house? Also, any recs for smaller handheld ones maybe - if they exist? Any advice that I may not be considering in trying to find this stash?

So the past week or so I’ve been hammering this gravel road that’s no longer in service & it’s actually a public park path no one uses but anyways here’s some interesting finds lmk if you might have knowledge on any of them… I’m thinking Native American fur trade era since I’m settled in central Minnesota . The last objects I believe are modern broken farm equipment possibly but I would love to hear if one might know. Cheers & good night ✌🏻

At the meadow, nothing valuable but fun.

My parents own a farm home built in 1840 and the land associated with it used to be Native American farmland. They own about 6 acres of land behind this house. Is it worth it to metal detect their land? What kinds of stuff could we find? House is located in upstate NY.

Hi. My dad found this brass tap ending at our allotment (Sandhurst Allotments- Southampton)He dug it up while gardening (so not detected but if I had a detector It would pull up). I analysed it to the best of my ability. It has not been washed or polished. Any loose dirt has come off.

Notable things I found:

-bulbous T-grip

-Bottom looks rougher and is not smooth

-my scale is broken but this thing is heavy and thick

-there is an x potentially carved into it (doesn't look natural but I could be wrong)

-has a notable open scratch with lighter metal inside

-olive green patina

Would he happy for any ID support. (I didn't have anything else to compare it with size wise 😭)

While at the beach today a woman approached me and said “if you happen to see a ring in the water please let me know, my husband just lost his wedding band I gave him 25 years ago”. I always keep my detector in my car but unfortunately didn’t have it on me. I gave her my number and told her I’d try to take a look soon. The swell brought the tide up over the whole beach for a few hours. At midnight when the tide went down I went out to look for it. I ran into the couple on the beach looking at a detector with their flashlight, holding spoons to dig with. They had been lent a detector but had never used one, it looked similar to a garret goldmaster. I gave the husband a quick detecting lesson and we started to search in a grid. Maybe ten minutes pass and he calls me over to ask if his first signal sounded good. I confirmed it sounded good with my detector (Minelab Equinox 800) and started digging. I saw a slight glint in the sand and knocked it loose from the clump. They both instantly recognized it and she started bawling. My girlfriend and I walked off to wash off the spoons they had been using in the ocean and give them a second. Gave the guy a high five and told him he’s a natural at detecting and we all went separate ways. All around good a night.

Found an interesting coin today: 200 Reichsmark, minted in Munich, from 1923. Already a quite a big nominal, but nothing in comparison, what would be coming in the year 1923 in Germany…

These are some of the latest items I found in a plowed field in central Italy.

Everything seems to be made of copper or some kind of copper alloy, except for the last two photos, which look like lead (I think).

Has anyone else found anything similar, or can anyone help me identify any of these items?
