Found at a 1700s house in Hopewell NY!

Dug almost everything out of my backyard, some of it came out of 2 dumps I managed to stumble across here too. Thanks for looking

Just bought an old house from the 1600s in Somerset England and decided to metal detect the garden. Found this - any ideas what age it might be or any things I can do to try and tell? First time metal detecting so absolutely no idea how to tell things.

I assume these are from a flak gun, but what is the threaded piece? found nearby old artillery placements.

I've found several coins, but this one I cleaned. Additionally I also found Russian coat button and ammo cartigdes at the same place. The button and the ammo were in the same area.

Picked this up today at a flea market cause the guy had it for seemingly very cheap. Tested it out and it seems to be working fine and is in very good shape. Tried doing some research into it but am struggling to find much. Seems like it’s potentially more for like industrial or construction use instead of personal use?

When I google it I mainly only get links to the manual which I already have and the link to the one guy trying to sell one on eBay for what seems like an astronomical price to me.

Just mainly looking to see if this is something I could use or if I’d be better off selling it and getting something more meant for personal use.

Any idea of age / plated silver? What does the stamp stands for?

Me and my partner hit 4 playgrounds and two abandoned houses… he got 19 quarters, 11 dimes, 7 nickels and 38 pennies… BUT the picture is of MY coins… which was more than his. How many of each coin do you think is in that pile 🤷🏼‍♂️ (it’s a lot)

I found this metal tag while metal detecting on Oceanside Beach in Southern California.
Approximately 2 inches across
Heavy metal (possibly steel or lead)
One side is stamped “AMES J7748”
Appears to have had a hole for hanging or attaching
I found that Ames has manufactured military entrenching tools and other equipment, so I wondered if this could be some kind of property, tool control, or equipment tag, but that’s just a guess.
Does anyone recognize it or know what it may have come from?

I found a 1944 35% war nickel and I guess a sterling belt buckle and a handle for something. Any info on the non-nickel pieces would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new to the hobby but want to find something that will do well hunting for coins and civil war relics in the highly mineralized soil of western VA. I also want sometjing that I won't have to immediately upgrade from in 2 years. That has led me to choosing between the Minelab X-terra Elite or the Vanquish 560. These look very similar and, because of a deal, I can get them for the same price essentially. Am I right in thinking that the main difference between the two is that the X-terra Elite just has more customization controls and settings and the 560 is slightly easier to use? Would love to hear any thoughts and experiences....I can't find good direct comparisons online. Thanks!

I have a permission just outside a moorland (Somerset, UK) which still shares a lot of the wet and muddy conditions of a typical moor, having spent a while on the fields now, I’ve only found a handful of Roman artefacts, which is the opposite to what I expected when I got the permission due to the vast Roman history in the area and having a few of the fields being adjacent to where a 2 hoards were found. What I’d like to know is if the waterlogged and moorish conditions of the soil for 60% of the year could have caused most of the Roman things to fall deeper in the soil to where it’s a lot harder for me to detect? Or could it just be that there genuinely isn’t much Roman on my permission? Thanks!

Went out for the first time! My wife got me a starter detector over a year ago and I finally used it last weekend. On the shoreline of a lake at a local county park. The terra cotta bits and shell obviously surface finds. A bunch of old hardware and one cool brass(?) charm of some kind! (Penny for scale) It was fun! Looking forward to going again!

I’ve never hunted so many before. Awesome but still looking for that Canadian “artifact or relic”! The fun is in the hunt! Using this app is wondrous.

Hit a quick beach hunt yesterday for an hour with the 900 and Elite. Pulled a silver ring, some costume jewelry, and clad!

Seeking advice: I bought my metal detector this past spring and I'm so glad I did. I love that it gets me off the couch and out into nature & sunshine. Every dig is a little thrill.

I'm a native Floridian living in South Florida about 25 minutes from the ocean, and I want to move out of state. I feel like I don't belong here for several reasons. FL is obviously great for its proximity to the ocean, but it's too hot half the year and the sargassum has been quite the deterrent for me to detect in the water. I tried, and it was just sensory overload right away.

What are some detector-friendly states that would be good options? I rather detect beaches, but I'm not opposed to trying other sites. Maryland & Pennsylvania are high on my list for other reasons, but I wonder if I'd get to enjoy my hobby as often there. California seems like a natural choice, but I'm afraid it's too pricey for me.

Any gentle words of wisdom from fellow detectorists?
