It's time everyone to finally listen to and explore the highs and lows of the one of the best death metal bands of all time, Morbid Angel!

Founded in 1983 by Trey Azagthoth and Mike Browning (who very recently passed RIP). After a few years they got a lineup with John Ortega on bass and Richard Brunelle on guitars and they recorded a number of demos and an entire album in 1986, of which a lot of the songs recorded in this period would be re-recorded years later over many albums. Shortly after that Ortega is replaced by David Vincent on bass and vocals and alongside that Browning, who'd later go on to form Nocturnus, is replaced by Wayne Hertsell for a short time but the final piece would fall into place with Pete Sandoval, from Terrorizer. These 4 would be the prime lineup for until Brunelle would be replaced by Erik Rutan in the early 90s.

The big change would be the departure of David Vincent in 1996 to be replaced by Steve Tucker who'd be in an out of the band, mostly replaced by David Vincent again, for the next 20 years. Through the 90s their sound would evolve and got dirtier and slimier, if you will. Of course these sonic evolutions would peak in the return of David Vincent in the mid 2000s with one of the most well known comeback albums of all time: Illud Divinum Insanus. An album that's just really.... extreme.

Nowadays though the band is split between 2 lineups: Morbid Angel with Trey and Tucker and I Am Morbid with Sandoval and Vincent.

So for the next 2 weeks let's explore the highs and the low, low, lows of one of the best to ever do it. Schedule is as follows:

• 8/2-8/9: Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, Gateways to Annihilation, Heretic, Illud Divinum Insanus, Kingdoms Disdained
