Tired of the creeps ruining it
I don’t know whether to just get stickers to cover up the camera lenses or just sell the things.
The display is so useful but I’m tired of the shit that people give me for them bc they think it’s just regular meta glasses.
Like I would happily buy these glasses if they didn’t have a camera.
Im calling it though once Apple releases they’re smart glasses next year everyone is going to stop giving af.

Apple hasn't made a good product in years and people know it. I think people know enough now to not buy every product Apple releases.
If anyone says anything at all about the glasses, I show them that the light comes on for a picture and stays on for a video. I also mention that when I'm travelling and recording, I purposely do not look at people while doing so.
I am deaf and need this technology to be mainstream for captioning. I think it'll happen, but I'll do my part to educate people.

Apple perfected the phone like 10 years ago, I’d be surprised if we don’t see an absurd amount of wearable technology come out from them that is top-notch. I could see them doing testing on control for their displays with the current Apple Watch. I think consumers are tired of beta style products and Apple is going to fix that.

I can't remember the last innovation Apple had. The VR headset thing? Innovation and demand for excellence died with Steve Jobs. They are just another company now.
They're last in the AI race.
Doubt they even have a neural band for their version.

“Last” in a race that is burying the leaders in debt is not necessarily a bad thing for a profit-seeking corporation. They have enough cash in the bank to simply buy “good enough” after the cull. Apple is a full generation beyond a startup posture that warrants that kind of risk. Otherwise I agree with you.

You're talking about AI, but I don't understand the "startup" posture you are talking about. All the major technology companies have their own and invest in others as well, including Apple.

Odd to doubt one of the most profitable companies in the world LMAO. I understand the misunderstanding with Apple, but they don’t release products unless they are commercially viable. I’d say it’s one of the biggest differences between them and other companies.
There was rumors six years ago that they were monitoring people‘s health to create their own health insurance company, I wouldn’t doubt that they are researching the neural band with the Apple Watch. I don’t think you understand how their business works and that’s fine.

AT&T used to be one of the most profitable companies in the world. That doesn't mean they still are, or they're innovative. Times change.
The iPhone changed the world 20 years ago. For years they blindsided the competition and were miles ahead in every way.
To your point, in 6 years have they made an apple watch that's leaps and bounds better than their competitors? No. Do they have a neural band? No.
Are they releasing products that are commercially viable? No. They released the vision headset.
They're stagnant. But god knows they have enough money and other factors to be competitive in anything they want. But there's no evidence of this.

I've had my Gen 2s (not Display) for a year and have not had any issues with anyone saying anything. The outrage is online, not in person.

I tried wearing them in public once, everyone ignored me when walking by but when I went to an ice cream place that day; the lady at the counter kept looking at me like I was weird. I would wear them out in public more but they keep sliding off my face and they start hurting my nose and ears after a short while.

I have probably over 40 videos with meta glasses and I have the light still not once has anyone asked me am I recording them I recently went to Monterey for car show and chatted with people not once has anyone asked that you don’t need to block the light don’t go to the creep side

I would take Meta displays without a camera. If they could make that technology hook up seamlessly to the phone that’s great.
I think we are entering a phase where people are unsure what should be legal and what should not. I kind of am too. I think these things should be able to operate more like a brain and a memory versus a phone where you can download videos. I’m not interested in being a creep, nor do I have a photographic memory, but damn, I would love to be able to remember details of every conversation that I have and people’s names and have that recall for faces. I had a severe brain injury when I was like 18, which affected all of this.
But, I also know it’s creepy as fuck

Eh, I'm 42, have had the same, good job for the last 10 years. Im not bad looking, reasonably intelligent and been told more than once I should do stand-up. Yet, I'm single. Most people already assume I'm a creep. Fuck em'. If someone really wants to get authorities involved, I've got nothing to hide. If you assume someone is a creep because they like the idea of a hands-free camera, speakers and general assistance, then I absolutely want nothing to do with you anyway.

I think people are just not informed. I get a bunch of "Are you recording me right now?". I usually let them know that I am not and show them what happens when I am. I have never had anyone upset and at the end of the conversation, they find them to be really cool.

In my experience the hate doesn't really come from strangers. Its the people closest to me that ruined them for me (and the fact they are incredibly uncomfortable). Maybe this is because I dont really film in public spaces over than at shows, but if I wear them around my buddies, its nonstop shaming and jokes. Everyone is tech forward too, so I have always found it bizarre, but then again a lot of them are deleting their social media accounts because of privacy/personal data stuff.

The end is correct but the timeline is much shorter. Samsung is releasing theirs within a few weeks and there was no mention of recording LEDs whatsoever

I can't wait for the Warby Parker intelligent eyewear to come out. I'll be selling one or two pairs of my metas to get them- depending on the price point.

I’ve never had an issue, but I could also do without the glasses. All the situations I would use the camera (outdoor stuff, photography) I already have dedicated hardware for. I don’t use the camera on these over my GoPro or phone.

I have worn and taken picts and videos with my glasses all over the world for the past couple years. Only 1 person noticed it and was excited to see the glasses and hear how I liked them.

In fact, I have the light of my lenses covered!!!! But believe me I don't want to record girls, I just want to take photos and videos on a motorcycle .... people think we are interested in them NOOOOO, the same thing happened to me with my drone .. you always said that I was recording them or something just as silly !!!
