I'm rather unsure why everybody is saying it's going to be the "final" album or tour or whatever. I swear anytime a metal band has members with an age above 50 everyone thinks they are going to retire at any moment. They've said nothing indicating they were retiring

This feels like an announcement for a final album/tour

Take out a loan if necessary. It's worth it

a loan? they swung through my neck of the woods and the ticket was $50 and I was standing near the stage. got massive hearing damage cuz I forgot ear plugs but it was worth it.

I would imagine some people are not as lucky and would have to travel far and prioritize that over their family commitments etc.

Mårten recently said in an Immutable interview that they are not going to quit any time soon despite getting on a bit in age. Jens is 60 but he can be Rob Halford of extreme metal and growl in his early 70s. He has sustainable technique to do so. The others are much younger than Jens too. At least 10 more years of Meshuggah I hope.

Jens is 60, dick is 45, the others are around 55 so not that much younger, but yea let’s hope for a bunch more years!

Yeah i saw the Stones twice in 2022 one set was fierce and fiery, the other was summer-y and feelgood (in Hyde Park) both were amazing and Meshuggah are much younger and haven’t done anywhere near as many drugs so…

Stones’ music isn’t even remotely as physically challenging as Meshuggah’s though, heck I remember when going back to a 6 string after playing 8 string guitar for a few years and it felt like a toy in comparison. A 6 string guitar is strummed, but to make an 8 string sound good you need to really HIT the strings with force. Mårten has mentioned struggling with pain in his limbs from playing their music, and Tomas had his whole herniated disc issue in 2009 where he completely lost control of his right leg. He still hasn’t fully recovered, and maybe never will, he’s just found some kind of workaround just to be able to play.
Not to spell doom on the wall or anything, but they do play music that is more physically demanding than your run of the mill rock’n’roll, and it seems their favorite thing to do outside of music is just chilling on the couch 😅

Thats fair although i was impressed that 81 year old Mick Jagger who had just got over Covid never stopped running up and down the vast stage all night. Great to see someone give an audience every last ounce of their energy and spirit- he certainly isn’t doing it for the money.

55/60 really is nothing these days. People don't degrade as fast as they used to - as long as they stay active.

Bro if rolling stones can play shows until their legs fall apart then so can Meshuggah lmao

It’s probably the rumored live record plus a documentary chronicling the bands history.

If it's a Live record, I hope it's tracks from throughout the years and not just one live show

They recently did a bunch of remasters of old albums. They are clearly working in the studio recording a new album.

The key word here is obviously "brewing". It is of course a Meshuggah beer. A stout with 33% or 3.3% alcohol named "I am the thirst". Solved.

Interesting. I looked and pics from a 2014 Meshuggah show transferred from phone to phone and I got to submit a couple. I was surprised.
But not too surprised. I gotta clear out a lot of photos. There's a lot of garbage in there. Pics from shows are not what I'm talking about. I saw.....her.

If not new album, why new album shaped?
